There are many factories located in the city, so there is heavy pollution.

Built inside high walls of ice, and in inhospitable tundra terrain, the city prospers in its isolation. No attack on the city has ever succeeded, including the massive Siege of the North.

|  The Southern Air Temple is located in the Patola Mountain Range, and houses both male and female airbenders. It is one of the two active Air Temples. The Temple is built on top of a high cliff, and is very difficult to reach without a glider or flying or climbing animal. It also has an Air Temple Sanctuary which resides a vast number of statues of past Avatars.

The Temple was built to harness the wind and let the air flow within, but the original structure has been heavily altered by the residents, mainly for their technology.

Unlike the other temples, it was built underneath the edge of a cliff rather than on top of a mountain, making it very hidden. It looks like is was built upside down.
