Nelekar

The day was cold and bleak when both the Earth Queen and the Fire Lord arrived at the Southern Water Tribe. The Tribe had been busy preparing for their arrival, and Chief Nelekar had his troops on high alert; any sign of subordination could prove fatal for his rule. He knew that with a show of support from the Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom, he could cement his place as leader of the Tribe with unparalleled ease.

A small battalion of troops waited at the port for the arrival of the two great world leaders; Nelekar himself waited at the Palace within the throne room, sitting patiently upon the large throne he had just had installed. The huge ice chair had replaced the old stone chair that used to rest there, and it was truly a marvel. It shimmered with beauty in the low lighting of the room, which was now made entirely of ice. Two smaller chairs sat in the centre of the room facing the throne, which had been placed specifically for the two leaders.

At the gates of the Palace, several troops stood ready to relieve the two leaders of any weapons that they had decided to bring – not that Nelekar feared the pair, but it wouldn’t look like he was being careful if he allowed two fully armed powerful benders into his presence. When the three met, it would be them alone – no aides or advisors would be allowed in their presence. It would truly be a meeting of world leaders, and leaders alone.

A slight knock at a side door attracted Nelekar’s attention. He waved his hand and the ice door swung open, revealing one of his Rear Admirals. “The Earth Queen and Fire Lord are approaching, my Lord,” he said, saluting as he did so.

Nelekar nodded before waving his arm again, both for the Rear Admiral to leave and the door to close. It swung to with ease as if upon well-oiled hinges. The Chief turned back to the main door and placed his hands upon his lap.

The time was approaching.

Tarek Raiden

The cold winds of the southern water tribes sent a shiver through Tarek’s spine as the door of his airship slowly opened. He was used to the warm, sunny climates of the Fire Nation after all. The Fire Lord flipped up his collar and made his way down the ramp onto the icy ground. He nodded respectfully at the Water Tribe troops who stood ready to welcome him and obliged them when they requested that he follow them to the palace. He paused momentarily to look up towards the pale and distant sun, closing his eyes as he let what little warmth it provided energize his body. It only took a moment before Tarek was feeling warm once more and ready for the meeting.

The troops stopped Tarek before the doors and insisted on searching him for weapons. “I don’t make a habit of bringing weapons to diplomatic meetings, but go ahead.” He encouraged, lifting his arms to the side. As the guards performed a weapon search, Tarek looked over his shoulder only to see his one of his most cherished friends, Queen Meili, approaching. He smiled and nodded in greeting and then shrugged, gesturing down towards the guards who were searching him. Tarek didn’t have a chance to greet Meili properly, as after the search he was led straight into the palace.

It was a beautiful sight to see and brought a smile to Tarek’s calm face. He approached Nelekar’s throne and bowed in greeting. “Chieftain Nelekar,” he began respectfully, “Fire Lord Tarek,” he continued, introducing himself formally, “honor to you and your family. Thank you for your kind invitation.”
Tarek stood upright again and turned to see Earth Queen Meili enter in behind him. He couldn’t help but smile and wink at his old friend.

Meili Mitali Zalika

There were many reasons why Meili was queen, and it wasn't just because she was a good stateswoman. There had been many attempts on her life, some better than others, but obviously they had failed since she was still alive and well and drawing breath, kicking ass and taking names the way she always had been.

She kept her wits about her, bundled up to deal with the harsh, cold climates of the south pole. Her stout frame did keep her a bit warm as well, and her stone black gloves and shoes certainly helped. When she was frisked (at least in her words) for weapons, she raised her hands, offering no resistance. "If my clothes or shoes are considered weapons, then I hope that he is ready to simply deal with it. they're staying on." Meili was something of a smartass no matter where she went though, but let it not be said that she was stupid or immature.

Either way, she was soon escorted towards the palace, right behind Firelord Tarek, who received a smirk from the stout queen, since they were unable to properly greet each other at the moment. Shortly after Tarek introduced himself to the new chief, Meili did the same, winking at Tarek prior to this action.
"Chief Nelekar," she nodded respectfully, "Earth Queen Meili. I too would like to thank you for your humble invitation..."
The game would begin from here.

Nelekar

As the two world leaders entered his throne room, Nelekar rose to his feet. His cold, calculating eyes took in the pair as they seemed to greet each other as old friends. Obviously the pair knew each other, but Nelekar was unaware of such a strong friendship in which an entire greeting could he held in a simple glance.

”Lord Tarek, Queen Meili; welcome to the Southern Water Tribe. I thank you for coming at such short notice, and hope that your trip was uneventful. Please, take a seat.”

The Chief sat down himself before waving an arm, causing the two chairs to come closer to his chair. Extending two fingers, he whipped them upwards quickly, resulting in a huge ice table to burst from the ground in between the three chairs, perfectly positioned for all of them. He himself sat back casually in his much larger throne of ice, looking between the two titans.

Unbeknownst to the leaders of the world, Nelekar had several of his Water Warriors positioned around the Palace, each of them working on lowering the inner temperature of the Throne Room. If it got cold enough it would prevent the Fire Lord from using his destructive Firebending if something happened to go awry.

His fingers gently ran along the armrest of his new throne as he pondered the other leader, the Earth Queen. Replacing his old stone throne for a new ice one had been a careful precaution, but would it be enough to stop her Earthbending in the Throne Room? He wasn’t sure, yet wasn’t willing to try it out just yet.

”Fire Lord Tarek, I want you to know that the Water Tribe is at your full disposal after the attack on the Fire Nation Capital. Even as we speak, the Fleet is gathering in case of another attack by this Xuri menace. I hope that, even with the change in leadership, the Water Tribes and Fire Nation can be allies as they were of old.”

”And Queen Meili, the same offer extends to you; the Xuri could strike and of us next, and only a combined front can stop them. If they were brave enough to attack the Capital while the Fire Lord was in attendance, their arm must have grown long indeed. Only together do we have a hope of stopping them.”

Tarek Raiden

Tarek nodded politely at Chief Nelekar and sat down.  Suddenly, with a wave of Nelekar’s arm, Tarek’s chair slid forward stopping just in time as a huge ice tabled erupted from the ice before him.  It was at that moment that Tarek realised that everything in the room was made completely of ice.  It intrigued him to think that Nelekar could rearrange the whole palace at a whim.  Tarek reached out with his heat sense in an attempt to try and determine the scale of the palace itself but the walls were solid ice and too cold to see through.  He could see nothing that was going on outside the Throne Room.

Tarek turned his attention back to Nelekar as he spoke, and nodded.  “Thank you Chief Nelekar, your offer of aid is appreciated.  I myself have taken similar steps with my airships and naval fleets as well.  If the Xuri are so bold to attack either the Southern Water tribe or Earth Kingdom after their defeat in the Fire Nation, then I will send aid.  I have seen first-hand their methods and the destruction they leave in their wake, they must be stopped.” He said in reply to Nelekar, “I had a long standing allegiance with Zurok, and I gladly extend the same alliance to you.”

As Tarek finished saying his last few words and gave Meili a chance to answer, he noticed a vapor emerging from his mouth.  He double checked, breathing out again slowly and  could now very clearly see his every breath as it dissipated into the air in front of him.  He shifted uncomfortably in his ice chair.  Was it just him, or was it getting colder?  He eventually just assumed it was a common happening in Ice Palaces.  He controlled his breathing and used it to warm himself up; however he was losing energy rapidly and wouldn’t be able to keep it up for much longer as the room’s temperature continued to drop.  His thoughts about the strange phenomena were interrupted by Meili, who had begun to speak.

Meili Mitali Zalika

Meili shifted in the dropping temperature, not exactly used to such a frigid atmosphere either. She also noticed that everything was made of ice, for she too had visited Zurok during the older woman's brief reign as the Southern Water chief. Was this to prevent her from earthbending? was this a trap? Meili was wary, for there had been many failed attempts on her life already. Not everyone liked the era of order and prosperity that Meili brought. (funny, because the Earth Kingdom, especially the Monarchy, had gained a reputation fo partying hard. Let it not be said that Meili's Kingdom of Order did not have its prosperous perks.

"Mine has been a kingdom of order and of defensive strength since the early days of my reign," Meili began after Tarek had finished, "I still hold very close ties to the Air Nomads from the War of Tipped Scales, and I am sure that they would assist any of us in this threat of the Xuri if such things happened. I am much more willing to fight against a common enemy than a fellow nation."
The war had been the Water Tribes and Fire Nation against the defensive might of the Earth Kingdom, coupled with the Air Nomads defending their temples with Earth Kingdom assistance. Soon, perhaps due to the Avatar's interference, the Water Tribes backed out, and turned to help the Earth Kingdom against Firelord Novai, with the decisive battles at Omashu and the Western Air Temple being part of what led the war to its conclusion.

"Thus I hope to be able to extend such an allegiance with you." she nodded, "the Avatar has remained in my good graces for a while, and if what he tells me is correct, she is also smiled upon by Firelord Tarek." she didn't want to put words in the man's mouth, but they had both spoken with Zulera fairly recently, and she seemed to support them still in their endeavors.

She would leave her speaking on this note, closing her mouth and letting Nelekar then speak to them to address what he needed to say. From here, the discussion would continue...

Nelekar

The Chieftain’s eyes passed easily over the pair as he saw their discomfort. In contrast, the cold seemed to invigorate Nelekar, and he felt power coursing through his veins. Soon, he promised himself; soon.

”I would be happy to accept your offer, and hope that we all may prosper for many years to come. The Xuri will certainly think twice before attacking our combined force.”

”Where are my manners; may I offer you any refreshments? We have just received an excellent batch of whiskey from a small clan west of the Capital, and I have been eager to try it. I hope you will indulge with me,” he said, before clicking his fingers. The centre of the table seemed to depress slightly before turning entirely into water. Three glasses made of ice rose from the hole and set themselves on the table, followed by a large container of the amber liquid he had promised. He poured himself one before pushing the drink towards the other two.

”There is another urgent matter that I wanted to discuss with you, though; it pertains to the Northern Water Tribe. For a long time now, neither has had a leader, and has been slowly drifting apart. I mean to unify the two tribes under a single leader; in times such as these, stability is important. However, I understand the wisdom of my new allies; so, what do you say on the matter?”

He held his glass in his hand, still not drinking, simply watching the pair with a trained eye.

Tarek Raiden

Tarek politely nodded at Nelekar’s offer of whiskey.  The unnatural cold had chilled him to the bone and he had hoped that some strong alcohol could warm him up again.  He assumed Meili would join in as well, it was definitely not the first time they had shared a drink and it would not be the last.  Tarek watched as Nelekar used his waterbending with exquisite grace and precision to produce three glasses ice in the center of the table. When the drink slid Tarek’s way he scooped it up and poured a half a glass of the amber liquid for himself and for Meili. “Thank you,” he smiled as he slid Meili’s drink over to her.

Tarek’s physical reaction to the cold was getting noticeable; in fact it was difficult for him to stop his hand from trembling as it held his drink. “It sure is…brisk in here,” he said softly with a small cloud of breath vapour emerging from his mouth.  The change was subtle, happening so slow that the Firelord didn’t notice just how much his own energy had drained in the icy palace. Tarek lifted the glass to his mouth as Nelekar spoke, but the Water Chief’s words stopped Tarek dead in his tracks.  Tarek turned to Meili as he slowly set his glass down, trying to hide his shivering hand.  He gave her an unsure look before turning back to Nelekar.  “And who would this ‘single leader’ be?  You?” asked Tarek in a surprised voice, “I am not completely sure I understand what you are proposing here, for the North has its leader and Matriarch in Zurok…if anything this should be something you consult her about.”

Meili Mitali Zalika

Mayybe it was her stocky frame or her thick clothes, but Meili didn't realize how cold it was until the whiskey warmed it up. She did raise her glass in Tarek's direction with a smirk, as if tributing the times the two of them had drank together. The pool of the alcohol sages came to mind.

"I have to agree with Tarek on this one. maybe I am simply not used to the climate, but it seems much colder than I ever remember it being with Chief Zurok on the throne. Maybe it has something to do with the interior decorating... heh." she chuckled as if to keep the conversation light, but let it not be said that Meili was a naive woman. She knew something was up, but she couldn't quite put her finger on what the purpose was.

Hearing Nelekar's proposal, however, did cause Meili to raise an eyebrow. "I admit that I am similarly confused on this as well. The Water Tribes were both unified and prosperous under the command of Zurok. Official or not, the woman did know what she was doing. I... am hesitant to agree to this proposition, but perhaps I am simply clinging to old biases and simply need to get to know you better. Otherwise... I do believe that Matriarch Zurok would be the one to consult on this matter... as well as the Avatar. if she chooses to close the spirit portals, ruling the tribes jointly would become quite a much more difficult effort."

Nelekar

At the mention of the cold from both leaders, Nelekar felt the side of his mouth twitching. He held back the smile, placing his still full glass on the table next to him. ”I find that the cold helps me to think – there is power in the cold, too; don’t forget that.”

”I would be the leader of the tribes, but I would not be alone; my councils and I would work together to oversee the people and make sure their best interests are served. As for Zurok, she has already agreed to serve as an advisor for me; we have already talked in some detail since I assumed the throne.”

Nelekar heard a slight commotion outside the door, and once again had to suppress as smile. ”The world is changing, Queen Meili. Out with the old and in with the new; this war will hit us harder than we can imagine, and we must be prepared for it. I believe I am the right man for the job.” He turned slightly and looked out one of the small windows at the back of the throne room – night had fallen already, and the sun was nowhere to be seen.

Just then, one of the Chieftain’s soldiers burst through the double doors at the end of the hall.

“Sir! There are intruders approaching the Palace!”

Nelekar rose to his feel, his face one of stoic concentration. ”Go. Organise the defence; tell the Vice Admiral he has the command.”

The man nodded and rushed out again, and Nelekar turned to the two leaders before him. ”I’m putting the throne room under lockdown. We will remain here until further word arrives.”

The Chieftain spread his knees before bringing his arms in towards his chest in a circular motion. He thrust them outwards with an intense strength, and huge blocks of ice rose up all around the walls and doors – all several feet thick, it would take a powerful waterbender to even attempt to move them and gain entrance.

Just then, he heard a loud rumbling from above him. He looked up, concern on his face. ”Now what could that be?”

Tarek Raiden

Nelekar’s words caused Tarek to raise an eyebrow. “Zurok…agreed to that?” he asked, glancing towards Meili.  Truth was Meili, Tarek and Zurok were bound by stronger ties then their positions as nation leaders entailed.  They were all three brother, and sisters in spirit, united under the banner of a very secret and ancient order, The White Lotus.  Tarek thought it strange that Zurok wouldn’t have consulted himself and Meili about giving the North over to Nelekar as well, it didn’t seem like her style.

Before Tarek could continue, a soldier burst through the door and warned of an attack.  Nelekar responded quickly and decisively, issuing orders to the soldier before closing off all the doors and windows with thick ice.  Tarek instantly stood up and tried to use his heat sense to see what was going on outside, but something was wrong. He couldn’t pick up anything, not even Meili or Nelekar who were in the same room.  With a calm expression he looked toward Meili and Nelekar.  “The cold in here…I can’t bend.”

Suddenly a loud rumble came from the ceiling above.  Tarek immediately assumed a fighting stance, even unarmed and with no bending, the Fire Lord was far from helpless.  A master of a myriad of martial arts techniques as well as a chi blocking genius, he was ready for anything.  “It might the Xuri,” whispered Tarek, “be on your guard, they are powerful and very cunning.”

OOC: Don't worry, I'm meant to be here. >Smile

Tzekel-Kan

From the inside of the blocked off Throne Room, Tzekel-Kan assumed all they would here would be a sound resembling that of cracking ice from a long ways away. In reality, right outside the Throne Room, a giant statue in the shape of a Polar Tiger had risen out of a thin layer of ice. If you had been outside two minutes before, it would have been flat ice.

Tzekel-Kan was directly behind it, his markings all over his body and eyes glowing an eerie green. He shook off the ice of the Polar Tiger, every movement he made the statue copied. This would be fun. He rose on two legs, and with a terrible amount of force, swiped the air. The Statue made contact with the roof of the Throne Room, it coming away like dust in the wind. Thousands of shards of ice flew everywhere, even inside the room. It would have become extremely windy on the inside with the roof being torn off so quickly and destructively.

As soon as the roof was clear, the front two legs of the Giant Ice statue crashed onto the ground, cracking the thick ice floor and barely missing Nelekar. He let out a terrible roar outside, which the Statue imitated. It let out a roar that was the sound of the loudest cracking ice right into Meili and Tarek, one of it's teeth the size of their entire bodies. Then a swipe from one of it's massive paws came from the right, cracking and destroying anything in it's path, heading straight for them.

[calm yo tits, kiddo.]

Meili Mitali Zalika

Meili's eyes narrowed from curious suspicion. "If she did, she did not alert me of such a thing. perhaps her daughter might know a thing or two about it." The Avatar had been seen lurking the tribes, most likely jumping through the spirit portals to get from one to the other. Since she was the one to control who opened and shut them, she could theoretically control who travelled between north and south with relative ease. She trusted that Zurok would use that well, and that she would make sure Zulera did too. Meili enjoyed her friendship with Zurok, because it in turn meant she had influence over the otherwise untameable Avatar.

However, she was instantly on her feet when there was word of intruders. It was not the first time something had happened at her palace, although here it was a totally different situation. Still... she was somewhat alarmed when the walls came up.
"So you're not going to confront them?" she raised an eyebrow, "you're going to cower away in your fortress while your people are attacked and killed?" Now maybe she was just overreacting and getting off on the wrong foot, but that did not sit well with Meili, given that her predecessor had done something similar, and she had fought a warlord (Fire Lord, to be exact) that had done the same thing, and merely hidden behind their pawns while their walls and guards kept them safe.

"we haven't even assessed who or what is out there. Maybe I'm judging too much on my own personal experiences here, but if this is your so-called battle plan, then I want to go find Zurok--I want to bring back someone who will actually assess and deal with the danger rather than run and hide from it."
That was also just how Queen Meili was in general. When there was a problem, she was there trying to solve it. During the wars she was in, she had been at the forefront, leading her soldiers to battle. She was a doer first, and speaker afterwards. After all... there were many reasons why she was queen--and only one of them was 'because she was a good politician'...

Although such thoughts were soon brought to a grinding halt with the intrusion of, well... a thing. She wasn't even sure what it was, other than that it was big and bad and clearly meant trouble.
Not about to become an ice-monster's dinner. she shifted around with surprising skill to evade its line of fire. Words did not seem necessary at this point. Tarek could help himself, and Nelekar... well, she was blaming him for this.

Nelekar

A scowl dropped onto the Chief’s face as the Queen spoke. He took a step forwards and glared down at Meili. ”Are you as dense as the element you bend? An attack on this day is no coincidence – they’re after us, and I don’t mean to risk my life seeking some kind of personal glory. I will assess the danger from safety, rather than rush into a situation I know nothing about. I am not running and hiding; it’s called strategy.”

Any further words that Nelekar would have said were quickly knocked away when a huge tiger made entirely of ice smashed through the ceiling. The Chief fell backwards, barely avoiding the ice statue when it landed right in front of him. He jumped back onto his feet quickly, his legs spread wide in preparation to bend. He thrust his hands forwards towards the statue, but for some reason he couldn’t control the ice of the statue.

He looked at the other leaders, his eyes filled with a feigned concern. His eyes darted up towards the hole in the ceiling, quickly portraying the situation. Tzekel-Kan had to be nearby, but where was he?

Meili Mitali Zalika

Meili's eyes narrowed as she avoided another attack. "So instead you trap us all in a big-ass chamber with THIS behemoth? aye. brilliant tactician, my ass." Nelekar's credibility in Meili's eyes was sinking pretty damn fast. "Well don't just stand there, you're the waterbender. Get rid of it! Ain't like there's a whole lot of heat and rock for Tarek and I!"

Of course it was fairly natural for her to just assume that it was regular ice, maybe being remotely controlled by a waterbender (or group of them), and so the fact that Nelekar was not using his bending powers to stop it meant to her, that he was in on whatever scheme this was. Besides... cutting off the escape now that they were enclosed within 4 walls and confronting a giant beast meant that sure it was contained (for now. Meili figured if something like that could burst through the roof that it could smash any of the walls as well), but it also meant that Meili and Tarek were mostly sitting ducks, and unarmed to boot.

well, mostly unarmed. Meili stamped her foot, and pebbles appeared from under her robes--formerly attached to her feet, akin to the shoes of the Dai Li. A split-second later, she hardened it into two balls of rock, sending them in roundabout directions right towards the creature's eyes. She might not have been 100% sure what she was going up against, but the eyes were usually a good target to start with.

Tarek Raiden

Tarek had to dive out of the way when the icy behemoth came crashing in.  While Meili and Nelekar exchanged harsh words, Tarek focused on the beast.  It was very large and unlike anything Tarek had ever seen.  He wondered what matter of water bender could manipulate such a beast with so much fine control.  Tarek dodged its lumbering attacks with relative ease, gracefully jumping and spinning out of the way like a true martial master.  It was about all he could do, given the fact that without his bending he wouldn’t be able to damage the ice statue in any way.

Tarek listened as Nelekar and Meili got at each other’s throats.  Meili had a point, but Tarek was not as distrusting as she was.  “Enough!” said Tarek loudly, in a forceful voice, “We can sort our petty differences out later!” Tarek quickly turned to Nelekar, “Nelekar?  What’s wrong?  Why aren’t you stopping it?” he asked as he spun out of the way of another attack.  He began to move closer to Meili who at least had some rock to bend, he trusted her with his life, as he knew she trusted him with her own.

Tzekel-Kan

Tzekel-Kan was swiping at the Queen and Lord, annoyed that Tarek kept jumping over his swipes and Meili and Nelekar kept exchanging words, mostly Meili though, he could see. He made a few more powerful and quick swipes at her, trying to trip her mostly with one of his giant claws, or just straight up slam into her. It was a bore he wasn't allowed to just squash them. They would be bloody messes by now.

He had heard a little about the Xuri group, and after Tarek asking why Nelekar couldn't stop his titan, he decided to make something up on the spot. He spoke these words outside, but the stattue imitated the words almost perfectly. "The Xuri are more powerful than petty benders like yourselves! You cannot hope to match me!" Tzekel-Kan honestly had no clue about the ability of the Xuri, but it seemed a fair bet to assume they were powerful. He ended the last word quite loudly as he attempted to slap Nelekar away. It wasn't powerful enough to break to many of his bones, but enough to send him flying and unconscious.

Tzekel-Kan reared back as two small earth balls smashed into the statues eyes, cracking and distorting them. Sight was now heavily distorted. He couldn't resort to throwing his paws around anymore. With another stamp to the ground, he destroyed the floor, cracks running everywhere and large jagged edges springing up a half dozen feet into the air. Then he switched tactics with Meili and Tarek, trying to stomp down on them. They were quick movements, but only strong enough to knock them out or break a rib. Although with his size and the anger he was in about his sight situation, one could not be certain.

Nelekar

”Obviously I didn’t expect this. I’ve never even seen anything like this before!”

He ducked under another blow and felt a rush of wind past his head. Once again he tried to bend the statue, but it was to no avail. ”I can’t bend it – something’s controlling it that’s even more powerful than I am!”

When the statue spoke, Nelekar felt a very real shiver go down his spine. He wasn’t aware that Kan could talk through the statue, but it was certainly a very creepy addition to his immense powers. Ignoring the words for now, he dived backwards and avoided the slap – or, almost avoided it. The trailing paw caught Nelekar in the leg, sending him sprawling onto the ground with a grunt of pain.

He looked down at his limb slowly to see it bent in entirely the wrong direction. He looked up at the Fire Lord, as if telling him to try and give Nelekar some time. With a wave of his arm, the section of ice below the Chief’s leg turned to water and his leg submerged. He let out a wince of pain as it moved, but fought through the barrier and began to make circular motions with his arms. The water turned a bright blue, but it wasn’t enough. He took a deep breath and reached down before snapping his leg back into place with a yell.

Breathing heavily, he continued the healing process until the bone repaired itself and he felt like he could stand on it again. He placed his palms flat on the ground and ice rose beneath them, pushing the Chief into a standing position. He grimaced slightly, but was able to support his weight on his bad leg.

Time to put on a show…

He brought his arm up in an uppercut-like fashion, sending a huge spear of ice from the ground towards the behemoth’s legs, attempting to trap it in place. He repeated the motion with both arms several times until a multitude of sharp pillars stuck out from the floor of the palace. He looked up at the ceiling, his mind whirring with possibilities. Once more he made eye contact with the Fire Lord, but this time his message was a simpler one.

Move.

He brought his arms straight up into the air and clenched his fists before bringing them down sharply. The remains of the ceiling collapsed towards all three of the others in the throne room, and Nelekar fell to one knee as pain shot through his leg once more. He groaned, but managed to keep looking at the situation before him.

I hope Elegys is having better luck than this…

Tarek Raiden

Nelekar’s words deeply troubled Tarek, he knew Nelekar was powerful, but what manner of creature was this if not even the Water Chieftain could control it.  The beast mentioned that it was controlled by the Xuri and Tarek was honestly surprised, this type of power was not natural at all.  Where did the Xuri come up with all these abnormal benders?  Tarek had a lot to think about and meditate upon, but he was quite preoccupied with avoiding the beast’s attacks for the moment, before he knew it the beast lashed out at Nelekar who took a hit to the leg.  Nelekar gave Tarek a look, and Tarek immediately understood…he had to try and keep the beast preoccupied while Nelekar recovered from the blow.

Meili’s attack was brilliant, she managed to strike the beast’s eyes with pinpoint precision.  She always came through.  Tarek immediately took the chance and charged the beast who had now reared up, he narrowly dodged the flailing arms and slid through the beasts legs.  Immediately Tarek was on his feet again.  He leapt at the beast, throwing his arms around its neck and holding on for dear life.  He looked for a weak spot which he too could exploit, but the beast recovered quicker than expected and resumed its rampage, with Tarek struggling to hold on.  It was immensely strong, and Tarek saw no weaknesses he could exploit without bending.

During the struggle, Tarek spotted Nelekar who seemed to have healed the worst of the damage to his leg.  Tarek was impressed with Nelekar’s resilience and healing skills.  He also noticed Nelekar getting ready to unleash a large attack at the beast…that was Tarek’s cue to move.  The Firelord immediately pushed off of the beast, flipping backwards, managing to clear a great distance from the beast just before the Nelekar made the ceiling collapse.  All the running, jumping and adrenaline had gotten Tarek’s blood pumping again and he began to take deep controlled breaths.  He could feel the slightest amount of warmth begin emanating from his core.  Not enough to bend on his own just yet, but he had an idea.  “Meili!  Can you get those rocks of yours to generate some heat?!  All I need is a spark!”

Tzekel-Kan

Tzekel-Kan was happy with his performance on Nelekar. It wasn't what he wanted, but his leg was pretty messed up. Then Tarek jumped on his back and held onto his neck. Tzekel-Kan almost tried to swing him off, but then remembered that Tarek couldn't do any bending at this point in time, and wasn't a threat.

The threat came from Nelekar. He had to put on a show as well. Ice came up through the ground into the statues feet, supposedly pinning him, and for a moment stunned him. But then, what he was controlling was ice, and so were the spikes. His tore his paws free, the ice breaking off, but staying in his paws. He swiped at Nelekar again, not caring that massive spikes were jutting out of his paws. He heard a loud cracking, and before he could look up, the ceiling had come crashing down, hitting his head. It didn't stun him, as this was just ice, but it did knock him downwards a bit. Then he heard Tarek calling to Meili.

Tzekel-Kan immediately forgot all about Nelekar, and looked at Meili. His eyesight was shattered like a broken mirror, but the entire of the statue was as almost as big as the throne room. He would just leap at her, hoping to crush her, but then sunlight might hit Tarek and that would be worse. Instead he reached out and smashed the icy floor on either side of Meili, shaking the floor with an earthquake, then so expertly, jutted out with his mouth, and took a bite.

Meili Mitali Zalika

It was clear now why Queen Meili wore such heavy rock gloves and boots. It gave her an ample amount of stone to use, and luckily her stone was harder than ice. Meili didn't just use any old rock she could get her hands on (unless she was in a pinch or something).

However, despite the fact that she was small and stocky and powerful, Meili was also deceptively agile, even when she was not in contact with the earth. As the creature came down and shook the ground, Meili shifted and stood firm. She was rock-steady, used to *creating* earthquakes that were far grander than what this creature could do. She kept her focus on the beast, still not trusting that Nelekar wasn't just pretending he couldn't control this creature. Tarek was just too trusting.

but of course, she was not about to abandon Tarek by any means. She'd be AOK with leaving Nelekar at the mercy of this beast since she no longer trusted him, but that was a different story altogether.
"On it!" Meili sent a barrage of small rocks Tarek's way, making them practically vibrate against each other, causing small sparks to fly. Tarek would easily deflect the rocks, but there were his sparks. Meili and Tarek were quite a team, on more levels than one.

Tarek Raiden

The whole room shook as the beast smashed the ground.  Meili was used to balancing during earthquakes, usually she was the cause of them herself.  Tarek on the other hand needed a second to steady himself.  That second was all Meili needed to create the sparks Tarek needed.  As soon as he felt them he stretched his hand out.  The rain of sparks suddenly erupted into roaring flames that quickly surrounded the Firelord, encircling him in a ring of fire.  Tarek took a deep breath as the warm fire empowered him and he began absorbing its heat.

He immediately thrust his arms forward, channelling two huge jets of scorching flame towards the beast while the ring of flame still spun around him.  He hoped Meili would press the attack as well now, he knew she didn’t have a lot of rock, but she was Meili…she didn’t need.  He also turned to Water Chieftain, “Nelekar! If you can…attack now!  Together this beast is no match for us!”  he shouted, still channelling his flames.

Nelekar

A soft groan escaped the Chieftain’s lips as pain continued to rack his body. When the beast turned to swing at him once more, though, he was ready. He brought his arm up quickly and a huge wall of ice flew out of the ground between them. The beast was strong though, and it knocked through the wall, which just managed to keep the attack from hitting Nelekar. He rose tentatively to his feet, his eyes darting between the statue and the two world leaders.

Now was the time to decide. Now he had to make his choice – would he fight against the Fire Lord and Earth Queen, or would he betray Elegys? His mind whirred with possibilities before he settled on the only possible outcome.

His arms began to move in a wide circle around his head, his whole body twisting to enlarge the circles. The ground beneath his feet began to brighten before starting to melt into water. After a few seconds, Nelekar raised his arms and a huge spout of water erupted from the ground beneath him, with the Chieftain riding the very top of it. He rose right up to the high ceiling of the Throne Room, near to the hole through which the statue had entered.

His arms began to move again, but this time the movement was all focused in front of him. The floor around the huge statue began to melt, and Nelekar forced the water upwards around the statue’s legs before freezing it, effectively trapping it as long as Nelekar could hold his ground.

”I don’t think we can beat this thing – and whatever is controlling it will be even stronger. You need to get out, and I’ll bring the Palace down on top of it. It won’t be able to get away from that!” he shouted down to the Fire Lord, urging him to leave. But then, a bright light from above distracted him.

Green lights began to shoot out across the night sky, and instantly Nelekar knew what had happened. He had seen a Northern Aurora before, but never a Southern one – which meant that Elegys had completed his task. The Spirit Portals had become conjoined, and he would probably be merged with Vaatu already.

”Go!” he roared, turning his attention back to the statue. He piled more ice around the titan, hoping to hold him down while giving the others a chance to flee.

Tzekel-Kan

The beast roared mightily as the heat hit it from Tarek's fireballs. Tzekel-kan could feel the deformities forming, the sloped shoulder, the droopy paw. But to his advantage and disadvantage, Nelekar had betrayed him. He turned the floor into water then froze the paws to the floor. His paws were now immobile. He turned to the Chieftain, rage boiling inside of him. If he thought that he could betray Tzekel-Kan and not be brought down with him, he was mistaken. "Nelekar!" the statue screamed. "This isn't what we had agreed!" That alone would be enough to uproot him from power. He need not say more. Then he heard him about collapsing the Palace.  Tzekel-Kan smiled, this poor fool was only going to kill himself.

Just because his paws were frozen, didn't mean the rest of his legs were. He acted quickly against the increasing amount of ice piled on him, Shaking viciously to rip his legs free, the paws staying in the ground. Then something hit him. He could feel it. Something had shifted in power. He knew what it was, Elegys had melded with Vatuu. Vatuu was the prize in the end, not Meili and Tarek. Using his cracked, destroyed and half melted legs, he sprang out of the room, smashing another ice wall on the way out.

He was going for Elegys.
