Sado Empty
PostSubject: Sado   Sado EmptyWed Nov 30, 2011 5:57 pm

Unfortunately, I think I lost the last copy of his character sheet. This one will have to be reconstructed from scratch.

Full Name: Sado
Gender: Male
Age: 41
Element: None
Birthplace: In the Fire Nation Capital, where the most advanced medical facilities available in the nation were located, as well as family, though he grew up in a village on the southern edge of the Fire Nation.
Position: Outlaw, probably wanted for a host of reprehensible activity.

Personality: Chaotic, but not random. He pursues and believes in two systems of natural order: Anarchy and Totalitarianism. Neither are preferable to him. It's only a matter of what you value more, the power of freedom or the power of control. Needless to say, these two things are not mutually exclusive and neither are Anarchy and Totalitarianism. He's talkative. He likes to explain things to people. He also likes testing them to see what they're made of. Sometimes he tests them with words, sometimes with looks, sometimes with a knife. Whatever shows him their true nature. He's an artist. His purpose and calling is expressing truth and beauty to the world and share his calling with others so that they might join him, if they feel the calling too. Unfortunately, the world suppresses and oppresses all who follow his calling, so he must constantly fight the system and the programming so many people are ingrained with and show them the real world so that they may choose for themselves if they will follow their true nature or live within the confines of the wills and whims of others.

Abilities: He is NOT a bender. He has never had any capacity for bending. However, this has not prevented him from learning and studying the martial arts associated with bending. However, due to his problems with authority, he has very little formal training. Much of his style is self-taught or learned by observing others, which leads him to have a very unrefined and mish-mashed form which he blends into knife fighting. If you want to envision his style, have a look at some ROK marine martial art demonstrations and then a few Fillipino grappling maneuvers. He likes to mix in some strategic uses of knives in these styles to inflict massive amounts of pain or damage, effectively ending fights before they begin, if he can.

Appearance: Picture in his box isn't quite right, but it has the right look, which is devilishly hard to find and I've lost my original concept art of him. Grayish white skin which never seems to tan particularly well. He keeps a shaven head except for his fire nation ponytail, very similar to Zuko's original hair style. He wears a black eyepatch over his left eye, which was lost some time ago. His skin is covered in jagged scars from a thousand cuts, but other than that, more or less flawless. His remaining eye is a patriotically themed mixture of yellow iris and red bloodshot veins. His mouth is quite similar, hosting an almost forked red tongue with gently yellowing teeth. Each ear has pieces missing from them and it's hard to tell which, if any, were lost willingly and which were not. His hair is raven black and shines like Obsidian, soft and silky to the touch. He normally wears only (brown) pants and boots, keeping knives in his pockets or his belt or his hand.

History: As noted above, he was born in the Fire Nation Capital, several miles from where he would later grow up. He was technically born into lower nobility, though there was a lunar eclipse on the night he was born, which was taken by sages and spiritual leaders to have been a dark omen, foreboding the entrance of a great evil into the world. The birth had complications, and though his mother survived the struggle, she never fully recovered from the emergency surgery which was required. Being the firstborn of his family, his father had chosen that the babe was of greater priority than his wife, due to his need for an heir. Not that he didn't love his wife or that she disagreed with his priorities; they both were desperate after months of failing to conceive and the pain of a few miscarriages. The price she paid giving life to Sado left her body too weak to bear another child.

After the risky and difficult surgery, the boy who would be later called Sado was presented to his parents and named according to their family wishes. It was a name that was meaningless to him which he never embraced and rarely answered to, even from a young age. He was sent to the best private schools in the Fire Nation, except the Imperial Academy in the Capital. The medical bills required to sustain his mother's health made raising Sado difficult, despite his father's immense inherited fortune. It didn't help that Sado quickly became a delinquent, picking fights in school and actually hurting the other boys. At first his parents believed he was just a rowdy young boy struggling to find himself in the world, but in the span of a few short years, Sado's cruelty and physical violence only decreased in their lack of discretion.

At first, Sado's father was only embarrassed to not have control of his family. He was the laughing stock of his noble relatives and he was determined to find some form of punishment for Sado which the boy would heed. At least, he did until the day he found that his son had been tormenting animals and killing them. That was when he realized that his son was not merely a boy acting out. His father spent the next several years discreetly hunting for a cure for his son's mental illness to no avail. Meanwhile, the boy grew strong and intelligent while his ailing wife deteriorated, his family fortune was taking severe losses, and his son appeared to lack an interest in pursing financial interests and taking up the family businesses.

This slow, bleeding death haunted the family for most of Sado's mid to late teenage years until his mother's body finally gave up its battle and surrendered its spirit to the Spirit World. In his grief, his father confronted the boy, who was on the cusp of manhood, and gave him an ultimatum. He could either stay and take his place at his father's side, abandoning his secret, twisted practices, or he could leave and be forever disowned from the family. On that day, Sado grinned at his father, the only time he ever remembered his son smiling, and answered that he hadn't been part of their family for a very long time and he left with the chillingly vague and indirect implication that he had smothered his dying mother with a pillow. His father never saw his son again, but he suspects that the day he does, one of them will die.

From that point on, Sado was a fugitive and an outlaw. By the time he was twenty-five, he was wanted dead or alive for murder among a host of other crimes. By the time he was thirty, the warrant for his death or arrest had extended into the Earth Kingdom and the Northern Water Tribe. By the time he was thirty-five, there wasn't a large city in the world where you couldn't find his face on a poster or hear his name under a whisper. However, he was never a large enough threat for any large scale pursuit. He was a ghost. Almost more like a myth or rumor for most people. He was the reason not to roam dark streets in the dead of night, even if he had been spotted in a town miles away only hours before. Many crimes have been attributed to him which he has had no part of due to his infamy.

He always played his hands smart. Whenever he killed, the dead person wasn't discovered for weeks until after it had happened. Sometimes he razed entire villages when they were small enough, leaving only a smoke cloud as evidence of his handiwork. Normally he leaves very little evidence behind. The most common means authorities have of identifying his involvement are survivors who witnessed his actions firsthand.

For the last six years, he's been wandering the desert to bide his time while the heat died off. People feel safe again. The boogeyman no longer haunts the streets of cities and villages everywhere. Many speculate he died in some random spat of violence he and his kind are prone to. Many claim to have killed him or fought him who have never seen him. But it's all old news now. That was years ago. No one expects or wants to see the return of the Shadow of Sado.

Sample RP: *The following is an excerpt from another RP in which this character appeared. In that game, he was a captain in the Fire Nation army under Firelord Azula. In New Chapters, he will have no military rank, but in this excerpt, he does.*

The golden Sun fell in slow motion, crashing with perfect serenity and silence into the horizon as if the star's life was passing before its eyes in its final, horrific moments. As it impacted against the waves of water in the distance, the sky was tinged with deeper shades of colors. The silence was stifling and the solar flower being so savagely ravaged by the voraciously insatiable and inevitably victorious darkness; no one could hear the Sun's desperate pleas for mercy. It was a beautifully tragic painting portrayed by none other than the great mother, Nature, herself in a daily performance of the same play enacting and embellishing the cruelties of her ways.

"Beautiful," Sado sighed, moved sincerely by the sight. He could almost hear the Sun's screams and he could almost feel the darkness's hunger. He knew the taste of blood on the shadow's tongue would not wet the killer's thirst, but provoke it to thirst all the more desperately. The salty smell and taste of the ocean on the wind filled his nose and mouth to bring him back partially out of his memories and empathic ecstasy long enough to hear his man repeat himself.

"Captain,"

Sado did not verbally answer, but when he turned his head to listen over his shoulder, the man behind him didn't dare hesitate any longer.

"Captain, we've caught a man who was traveling through the checkpoint."

"Then he is dead," Sado replied.

"Sir, he is a Fire Nation citizen."

"And how do you know that, Sergeant?"

The Sergeant was confused a moment, "Well he told us so, sir-"

"And how," Sado interrupted sharply. He did not raise his voice but his tone became gently murderous, "could he have done that if you had killed him as ordered?"

But Sado did not wait for any reply. He was on his feet in an instant and moving past the Sergeant in a flash, knocking the man off balance as he blew past him. Staggering to regain his composure and follow the Captain, his cheeks burned against his embarrassment. The Captain had made a beeline for the group of soldiers watching and holding the bound and gagged prisoner. Just before reaching the group, Sado reached back and pulled out one of his four knives in a deft manner. The action caused the prisoner's eyes to bulge and his frame to collapse in terror as he tried to jerk himself free. Before even those holding the prisoner's arms could react to compensate and hold him still, Sado gently grabbed the back of the prisoner's head with his left hand while he brought his right index finger to his lips (holding the knife with his right hand's remaining fingers) and quietly shushed the prisoner. Turning to the other men present and looking them each in the eye momentarily with his one good eye, he beckoned them all closer with a wave of his right arm and the knife it held. He shushed the prisoner again until the prisoner was silent and the men were all near. Sado's face only a few inches from the prisoner's, he pointed with the tip of the blade at the man's face. The prisoner instinctively screamed through the gag and jerked away again, but the Captain had a hold of his head and the soldiers had his bound arms gripped tightly. The Captain made more shushing noises while keeping the blade away from the man's face and eventually cursed at him, "Damn you! Hold still or I might accidentally cut you."

After a moment, the man calmed down and Sado again pointed at his face. Not convulsing away or screaming this time, the prisoner merely whimpered and closed his eyes against the horror. Bringing his right arm over his left shoulder, Sado slapped him hard with the back of his right hand and made an impact that everyone could hear. "Come on, now! Hold still. Open your eyes."

Pointing with the blade at the prisoner's tear-filled left eye, Sado looked again at the men around him, "I want you all to take note that this man's eyes are golden."

After he saw every soldier note the eye color to indeed be golden, he pulled the blade away and the prisoner's breathing became relaxed as Sado pulled the prisoner's chin down to his own chest, "See that his hair is just as black as our own."

Looking round, he saw every soldier understood now what he was saying. There seemed to be relief in all of them that this prisoner was clearly a Fire Nation citizen indeed. In that moment, Sado lifted the man's head up and looked the relieved soul right in the eye just before he plunged the four inch kife to the hilt into the corner where his throat met his jaw. There was a moment of uncertainty and shock in which silence ruled supreme. No one spoke or breathed or even blinked as realization of what had happened was still coming to even the victim. The silence was beautiful, just like the sunset. Death ruled in these slow moments of transition from day to night and silence was the grand symphony which played both in jubilation and despair.

All too soon, the ecstasy was ended, much like twilight is always too soon lost to the following darkness or light, as the case may be. A few shocked, choked, and outraged cries filled the air only to be silenced by a wave of Sado's hand.

"You all know our orders. They give no preference or exception to any soul for any reason. If he passed the checkpoint, then either he was from the village we were sent here for or he was going there and could have warned the village of our coming, either willfully or less so. Regardless, however, you have all received my command to silently eliminate all who pass through the checkpoints I have established. None of you will disobey my commands again," He raised the blood-soaked blade to eye level, "Am I understood?"

There was a murmur of a reply, which made Sado's rather passive and neutral expression curdle softly into disgusted anger, but his voice only became softer, "I didn't hear you."

Assembling themselves as their training dictated, they stood at attention and shouted, "YES, SIR!"

Sado began moving while they were shouting and approached the Sergeant, "Leave the body here, Sergeant. We attack tonight and there is no need to waste time throwing it away. Burning it would only make a smell and could compromise our secrecy. So let it rot here. By the time anyone can smell it, we will be long gone from this place."

Sado looked past the Sergeant and did not directly face him. The Sergeant was tensed, ready in case the Captain's arms suddenly moved one of his many blades towards the Sergeant's stomach. Sado looked up at the sky as the first stars began to twinkle innocently through the fading colors of the sky.

"Get ready Sergeant. It is time to begin."

Very interesting... this will lead to some great RP.

One thing, if he is not a bender, his element shouldn't be fire.
