Elegys	The Air Nomad Library in the Southern Air Temple was enormous; even with all the time in the world, Elegys knew that he wouldn’t be able to scour all of the shelves for the information he needed. To get around this unfortunate twist of fate, he had brought one of the caretakers with him. “You know what I seek; any information about the Spirit World and how to access it. Will you need any assistance?” The caretaker shook his head silently before motioning to a nearby chair. All of the Library caretakers took vows of silence when they took the job, so as not to reveal the secrets of the Nomads who read there. Elegys took the offered seat, but leaned forward, hardly sitting on it at all. He had waited so long for this opportunity – he only hoped it didn’t disappoint him. He sat in the same position for ten minutes while waiting for the caretaker, who came back holding only a single scrp;; in his hands. “One book? I wanted all the manuscripts that could tell me how to get into the Spirit World, not a single scroll!” Elegys said, his voice rising slightly. Again the caretaker simply shook his head before handing the scroll to the Air-Bender. He unfurled it and looked at the title and his jaw dropped. ‘Accessing the Greater Realm, by Guru Tumaki.’ He looked up at the caretaker in shock, and he smiled back at the air-bender. Elegys stroked the scroll reverently; up until now, he, much like the rest of the Air Nomad population, had believed that all of Tumaki’s works had perished in the hundred-year war. He was considered to be the leading specialist on the Spirit World, and was one of the few people who had been confirmed as actually entering the realm. He hugged it to his chest and rose to his feet. “Thank you. I shall handle it with care,” he said, turning to leave. As he did so, however, the caretaker gripped his arm and turned him back. He pointed at the ground, but his meaning was clear – don’t take the scroll out of the library. Elegys chuckled softly and pushed the man back. He stumbled and tripped over his robe, landing on the floor with a dull thud. “I need this more than you, caretaker. Guru Tumaki created this to be read, not to gather dust in an old library. Trust that I shall not desecrate it in any way; it has far more meaning to me than you know.” At that, the air-bender walked out of the library, not looking back to see how the caretaker reacted. He slipped the scroll into the bag that was slung across his shoulder and walked forwards towards the nomads who were training in the courtyard. They all stared at him as he walked by in his travel gear, but none of them made any kind of motion of farewell – he had given up any kind of friendship with them long ago. As he passed through the great gates of the temple, he let out a sigh. Now, his life was ready to begin. Now, he could finally fulfil his destiny. But the question was, where would he begin?
