    Training: Beginner waterbender; learned basic healing techniques from her grandmother and is pretty good about finding and foraging edible plants in the warmer months.

Personality: : Reserved, Modest, Honest, Naive, Curious, Creative Imaginative (she lives in her head; this is sometimes seen as slowness, but she is actually very clever). She is quite introverted, avoidant of conflict, and sometimes seems anti social. She is tolerant and adaptable, so she doesn't anger easily. If she cannot escape a stressful situation, she becomes annoyed and tries to adapt to make it better. If she cannot adapt, she becomes frustrated, and because she internalizes everything, negative feelings start to build up. She is scared to become too angry because she has no experience dealing with feelings of rage, and doesn't know what might happen if her anger became great enough to break down her inhibitions. She feels very relieved to be away from the traditions and rules and authority in the Northern Water Tribe and finds that she despises illogical things, such as certain useless traditions and rituals.

Abilities: She really sucks at waterbending because she's a beginner,  but wants to better herself. She has a hard time describing it, but it feels that plain water is too pure for her. She feels she needs a substance around the water, like in plants or muddy water to weigh it down, otherwise she ends up flinging it everywhere (she cannot earthbend, though she wishes she could, and actively admires the grand culture of the Earth Kingdom). She is mildly good at healing and fixing things. Tinkering and making new things to solve the problems she encounters interests her, so sometimes she'll go off by herself and make things. She is very inquisitive, and always needs to know the answers to things (even especially if it's none of her business).

            Hair: Brown, wavy, cut short, but with 2 braided tails that go down to her waist.
            Skin: Water-Tribe-tan

Neekla tends to wear many layers of Water-Tribe-blue clothing. She despises the frigid winters in the North and looks forward to spring time when the sun stays out longer and the plants come out and produce food that tastes a million times better than the frozen winter meat. During that time, she wears shorter clothes, and even goes barefoot like Earthbenders when people aren't around. She'll go wandering and exploring new areas for hours at a time, and is known for using the longer, finely-braided tails on the back of her head as a sort of utility belt for small knives and snacks. She gets lost in her own head a lot, just thinking and pondering different things, and often looks distracted. People know that she'd rather listen to conversations than draw all attention to herself by actively participating.

History: Neekla is very close to her mother and maternal grandmother, has a close, small group of friends, and had a fun childhood. But she was lonely sometimes, because everyone around her had siblings they could hang out with as much as they wanted, and her mother was the only one she could hang out with when everyone went home at the end of the night. She didn't mind it a lot, but it nagged at her every now and then. She enjoys wandering and watching the local koala otters play in the sea. She’ll explore the wilderness around her for hours at a time, and loves writing while relaxing in her hammock. She was 12 when she discovered she was a bender when the snowball she’d been about to throw at her friends melted and wriggled around her hand. It scared the crap out of her, but her grandmother took it upon herself to reassure her and try to teach her the basics of bending. They had lessons everyday, but it was frustrating because no matter how hard she tried, Neekla never really got the hang of it. It seemed to be a lost cause, and she knew she could be spending the training time somewhere else. She got along fine when before she discovered bending, so she figured she didn't really need to learn how to utilize it. It wasn't until later that it piqued her interest.
Her grandmother always told Neekla fantastical stories about the world past Water Tribe borders. (I plan on starting my RP here) and told the story about how she ran away from her prudish family so many years ago and scandalously (at the time) fell in love with an Airbender. And then Neekla’s mother (a non-bender) grew up with that story of cross-border adventure and fell in love with an Earth Kingdom man and gave birth to Neekla, who was to stay with her mother in the Water Tribe, and – her grandmother reveals when she becomes ill – a sister named Jyla that stayed with her father in the Earth Kingdom (it is later revealed to Neekla by her father that Jyla is an Airbender). This is a huge discovery for Neekla, so she sets out to find her sister and her father and tries to improve her waterbending along the way.

the stigma against women waterbending has sort of been gone for about 75-80 years now, even in most backcountry villages and whatnot. Just a heads-up.

otherwise, it's passable. You just need to change your name to match that of your character and you'll be ready to do.

Awesome. Maybe i could say that her grandmother encouraged her to learn, but she was a little shy and hated that she wasn't any good at it (lessons were fruitless and felt like a waste of time when she could have been doing something more productive with her time) reasoned that, while it's a cool trick, she really has no use for bending abilities. Then she becomes interested in bending when she learns of her sister (another character i will make), because it would probably come in handy in her travels.

And I can't find that one thread with the code for the character box. Those are optional, right? Because my avatar picture and the chibi in my signature is how I imagine my character. When you use those, do you have to copy the code each time you RP?

given that 1 of our admins quit, one just announced she's MIA, and the other two are AWOL, you just need 1. I wasn't sure if you had finished or not.
the character box thread is here, and yes, it'd be copied ideally with each post. an easy way to do that would be to "quote" your last post, but then to delete the "quote" tags. then you just need to alter the content of the post and maybe the mood/condition if applicable, and otherwise there it all is.
