Personality: Rinik is an extrovert who loves adventure. She is sometimes blinded with excitement and doesn’t think things through which often lands her in trouble. She enjoys being outdoors and spends most of her time walking around the city and talking to people. She likes hearing people’s stories and hopes that one day her life will be a story worth telling. She has high hopes and would give anything to get out of Ba Sing Se and go sight-seeing. She has researched locations throughout the world and has a very brief knowledge of their history but craves more; she wants more than anything to see these places herself. Rinik is also generally friendly which makes it easy for her to make friends. She is incredibly stubborn and knows how to get what she wants, even if she knows that it might not be for the best.

Abilities: Rinik has the ability to earthbend however, she is horrible at it. Her father is an earthbender and had been very excited to begin teaching his only daughter how to earthbend. The once, and only time she made a rock levitate, she lost control and the rock flew backwards and hit her square in the nose. Ever since that moment, she knew she would rather stick to swords. Rinik attended a local training arena at the age of eight where she was taught how to use dual short swords. She wasn’t a natural fighter and it took a lot of work to get a good grip on just the basics of swords handling. After three years of training, she was accepted as a decent fighter among her peers. At thirteen, she continued to train with swords but not as frequent, and therefore, stopped progressing at an intermediate level.

Appearance: Rin ties her long black hair back with a ribbon and decorates it with wooden beads and braids. She has dull teal eyes and pale skin. Rinik wears a dark green short sleeved shirt underneath a brown vest. The vest dingy, frayed and missing a button. She wears black pants that have many pockets along the side and are tucked into brown, leather boots. Her boots reach mid-shin and are laced with a thick piece of black string. Rin wears black, fingerless gloves for the purpose of sword handling; you can always find her trusty swords strapped on her back. She also wears a wooden necklace that is carved into the shape of a Yin Yang that was made by her father when she was a small girl. Her arms and hands have small scars from earlier training days when her skills were horrendous and she would end up nicking herself. Overall, she has a short and stocky appearance.

History: Rinik was born into a middle class family in Ba Sing Se. It was a very happy family and Rin had a good childhood. She attended school, made friends, and spent a good amount of time with her father. Rin and her father had a unusual relationship. He was less of a father and more of her teacher. When Rinik was faced with an emotional issue, her father would not be able to understand the problem and would give her advice that was logical, but not applicable. He could not understand Rin, but he tried his hardest and Rinik knew that. She and her father were extremely alike; very stubborn yet open minded and adventurous. Rin was also similar to her mother because of her friendly and caring ways. Her mother was a nonbender and was almost relieved when Rinik had told her that she could not earthbend very well. Rins parents had bought her first swords as a birthday gift the year she began training which were a good amount of money. When she had graduated from a beginner, she had helped pay for her second pair of swords which are the ones she owns today.
Since Rins dream is to travel the world, she had convinced her parents to let her attend a school on the other side of the nation in Omashu. After months and months of begging and promises to help pay for the school, her parents finally agreed. What she didn’t tell her parents was that she didn’t actually plan to go to school at all, she planned on exploring historical cities and meeting new people. Once she arrived in Omashu, with the money she brought she stayed in a cheap inn. In order to afford her upcoming travels, she applied for a job at a local bakery where she began working and earned a good amount of money. Rinik then packed up her things and headed out of the city and began her journey around the continent.
