Jīngshén Empty
PostSubject: Jīngshén   Jīngshén EmptyTue Feb 26, 2013 11:41 pm

Full Name: Jīngshén Lěng
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Element: Water
Birthplace: Northern Water Tribe
Position: Bodyguard/spy for the Chief
Training: Expert water bending skills, Near master swordsman, intermediate with projectiles

Personality:
Calm, yet fierce, Jīngshén seems to contradict himself in several ways. Though his features are soft, his stare and voice are piercing and as well his his demeanor. Though he is precise in everything he tries to accomplish, his personality is brash and sarcastic. While a noble man at heart, willing to die for his homeland and sacrifice his own happiness for the sake of it, he is often crass, cold, and stays in the shadows. His silent poise and determination sets him apart from everyone else.

His raspy voice mixed with his well practiced, yet wicked tongue gives him the edge of a fire-breathing warrior, yet his mannerisms and the way he carries himself suggest a frigid personality. Though he is abrasive in nature, he never broods. To him, those who brood have no self-respect to better themselves or are on the other end of the spectrum and are completely narcissistic. He is an incredibly hard worker, practicing everyday to the point of collapsing in order to perfect his skills. This determination and work ethic had him overcome his initial lack in talent in bending.

Though in many ways polar opposites, he has a great deal of respect for Chief Tyrus, in many ways wanting to emulate people like him. Being friendly yet firm is an ideal for him but this desire just does not come to him. Being able to be the benevolent hero, and the fierce but fare judge is something that he has a lot of respect for.

Abilities:
Despite being a water bender, he gained a proficiency mainly in swordsmanship and projectile throwing before becoming a decent bender. A bit of a late bloomer, he dedicated himself mainly to warrior training before finally getting the hang of bending. Now he puts the two together for maximum effect. He tends to use thick ice to substitute steel weaponry. Though the ice weapons are much more crude than steel worked by a smith, they can still get the job done. Most notably is having a blade of ice for his sword. This adds variety because he can easily change the shape and weight so he can swing it faster or hit harder with it on demand. He can also make the blade liquid again and use the common water bending technique, the water whip. Switching from solid and short distance, to flowing and mid-range on the fly makes him very formidable.

As a spy, he uses his bending skills to great advantage to be seen as little as possible. He often freezes one side of his arm and leg to the side of a wall to stick to it, using his free limbs to fire icicle projectiles. If the need to assassinate arises, a melted murder weapon leaves no evidence. The only other remarkable skill he has as a bender is not needing a water source. He can take the water from the air.

Appearance: Common thoughts that spring to mind when seeing Jīngshén for the first time tend to range from androgynous, to a silent and lean predator. His tall and lanky form along with his limber movements seem almost unnatural, like a walking scarecrow. His hair tends to never stay in one place, sticking up everywhere, despite attempts to pull it down. This lean wild look combined with cold blue eyes can make him seem very scary looking and wraith-like to some, or dangerously captivating by those who take more of a walk on the wild side. His almost feminine features mixed with his cold intensity serves as a huge contrast to his boss. He is also surprisingly pale for a member of the Water Tribe, only having a light tanned complexion as opposed to a darker brown hue.

Jīngshén tends to cover his face with a scarf, that is a little too large for him, to the point where it covers the bottom half of his face, leading some to guess as to what is underneath. In actuality there is no real mystery, no scars, no strange marks or blemishes, just smooth, soft lips. He also wears a matching sash and a tight, yet insulated brown shirt. His hands are bandaged not due to injury, but so he won't injure his hands if he has to fight with his fists. The bandages also add extra grip so things will not as likely slip from his grasp. He is always seen carrying a sword hilt in his sash, yet there is no blade attached to it.

Height: 6'3"
Weight: 178 lbs.
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Brown
Skin: Tan

Weaponry & Other Gear:

Item Name Sword hilt
Description: A handle to a sword with no blade attached. There is an indentation as there the blade should be inserted. Instead of a steel blade, Jīngshén crafts his blades through the bending of ice, allowing him to use it like a sword, or turning it to water and use the hilt as a handle for a water whip.

History:

Jīngshén has had a very odd aura around him since he was a child. Though highly intelligent and active within the Water Tribe, for the most part people have often seen him as someone who separated himself from the pack. Despite trying to be friendly as a child, something tended to get lost in translation. People found him quiet and weird; the more abrasive boys his age would pick on him due to his lean, appearance which made him look almost like a girl for much of his life. That along with his quiet personality and his grim and sarcastic behavior had made him the black sheep of the group. While very brilliant and quick on his feet, the other water benders started to look down on him as well. For the longest time as a child, he could barely create ripples in a cup of water, let alone bend. Being the son of a decorated veteran in the war against the fire nation, his father found it difficult to accept Jīngshén’s limits, though never giving up on his son and loving him with all his heart, it was difficult for them to connect. Their relationship was more difficult seeing as he only had his father to raise him, because his mother passed away soon after he was born.

While never really giving up on trying improving his skills as a water bender, he knew that he had to hone other skills to be useful to the tribe. He was very dexterous and light on his feet, like a dancer. His agile tendencies had him looking in the direction of becoming a warrior. His weapon of choice became the sword and through his concentration and peace of mind through this weapon art, these qualities began bleeding into his water bending practice. After a while, something just clicked in his head and Jīngshén skills as a bender began to come through as long as he channeled his weapons training to the task in tandem. His previous handicap eventually turned into a reason for his innovations. He is slowly but surely laying down a foundation for a different method of bending. Though not nearly fleshed out enough to be called a new style, they make great companions for weapon wielding benders. He eventually become on par with benders his age and eventually became considered as an expert on the subject. Unfortunately, his father never got to see his son reach this point, being lost at sea on a fishing trip when Jīngshén was about fifteen, leaving him to raise himself.

His collected personality and his skill in combat and being stealthy eventually caught the attention of higher positioned members of the tribe. Eventually, he became a close assistant to the Chief himself going on recon missions for him should the need arise, or guard his closest subjects. Now a grown adult, his features made him more intimidating then feminine in a way, dangerous yet graceful. His demeanor, his gaze and his ruthless skill and precision began to make those who treated him unfairly, respect his skills and his position. He would without regret, sacrifice his life to defend the ideals and lives of his people.

Jīngshén

A bug on the wall, in the distance and unseen. This was Jīngshén’s specialty. Watch, then wait, then wrath. His left arm and leg were plastered to the side of a wall, frozen tight, so he could hang on the high wall of the Chief’s abode. Looking forward, he made out the targets. Eight of them in total, all after the Chief. The situation needed to be done quickly and quietly. No witnesses. Witnesses would have the people feel that there security was far more lax then anyone could possibly bear. First separate, and then strike a simple concept. Execution on the other hand, was uncertain. Who to take out first?

There was a fork in the path, the team split up to fit between the narrow alleys nearby, two to each pathway. Stupid, very stupid, split the party and the chances of survival drops. With a wave of his hand, he freed his appendages and turned the ice into a ramp. Sliding across the ramp he pulled out his hilt, melted the ramp behind him, and moved the water to the hilt, and formed a blade. He ten stuck the sword into the side of the building h had jumped across to, then climbing on it as a foot hold. Then grabbing the hilt, he pulled his ice sword out of the ice brick holding up the structure. He swept his leg across the rooftop, frost flying into the air.
Arms outstretched, the frost stood in the air, floating weightless as the shavings of ice began to merge forming a large ball. The ball of ice began to compact and crunch itself until turning to a ball of water. Arms outstretched holding the water ball in air, looked down to see his prey. The timing seemed about right. Jīngshén let out a sigh and dropped the ball on the two, the water engulfing them. They could not let out a scream as the water dulled their sounds. Trapped in their water prison, they could do nothing but watch as the water began to crystallize, putting them in a cube, which was then levitated and placed on the roof where there assailant stood. Walking slowly, with a slight hop to his graceful steps, Jīngshén approached the trapped men. He waved his hand back and forth across the glassy surface of the ice, watching their eyes follow it. With a soft sigh, he shook his head at them. He wiped his finger across the ice, scrawling a message, “Cover blind spots. Do not separate.”

Leaping to another nearby building, he saw four of the remaining six. The other two were nowhere to be seen. Being sure he was not seen, he decided to create a snowstorm of sorts. His form was hidden in a thick, icy fog, a smokescreen of sorts. As the men bended the distraction out of the way, Jīngshén was nowhere to be seen. The snow under their feet crunched loudly from where their attacker hid waiting. The ghost in the snow grabbed the ankles of two of the men and pulled downward, the two now being stuck up to their neck in snow, unable to move, unable to bend. The remaining two that were with them began to attack. Twirling about, Jīngshén dodged the icicles being hurled at him, slicing up those he could not evade. Finding an opening, he unfurled his blade into a water whip, splitting to two ends, the tendrils grabbing the torsos of the two and slamming them to the ground, knocking them out cold.

“Where are the two who went west?” Jīngshén inquired from one of the buried men. When none answered, he kneeled down to one of them and crafted a small, needle-like icicle. Slowly, Jīngshén pushed it up the man’s nose, if there was no reply, the needle would pierce. The man finally caved in. “The food storage of the palace! They’re gonna blow up the building to get the chief.”

Finally something new, is terrifying but new. It was terrifying for Jīngshén mainly because he had never considered this threat. He did not have time to waste. Reaching the tower, he pushed a large block of ice forward like an earth bender to stone. Walking through the opening, he walked into a punch to the face. The large man was next to a smaller one setting up the fuse to the ignition. Barely managing to roll away from an axe kick to the face, Jīngshén flung sharp icy discs towards the smaller man. The man dodged but he was not the target, not yet anyways. The fuses were cut, the bomb was a failure. Jīngshén was not able to dodge another kick to the stomach however. Letting out a painful gasp, his eyes grew wide as he looked up the large, grinning bearded muscle man. This would be a finishing blow, if Jīngshén did not think fast. With a jerk of the wrist Jīngshén froze the man’s foot stuck, having him lose his balance and falling flat on his face. Managing to get up, adrenaline pumped through Jīngshén’s cold veins. He no longer had a blade at the hilt, but formed a blunt rod and whacked the man over the head, knocking him out cold. Now it was only one on one. But the enemy surrendered. He clearly could not outfight him.

Jīngshén walked closer to the man last standing, and outstretched his hand. The other man clasped it and shook it. “Nice try man, you guys almost had me there. A good, challenging practice. See you next week.” Jīngshén said as he turned away and headed home. With his training done for the day, dinner waited for him.

A very well put together profile, looks like a promising character.

I'm not sure if you have contacted Tyrus about your position though, if not you will have to get his approval on this first. Other than that one minor detail, I gladly Approve

a nice long profile and such. I like it.

I am going to approve it as well, though make sure you contact Tyrus.
If you can't get hole of him, contact the user Loki, who is one of Tyrus' other accounts that he uses a lot more often.

one more approval and you're set to go. Very Happy

Your app is good, but there is one minor issue. In the 'Training' section you say he is an expert with weapons. Please be a little less vague here, and list which weapons he is skilled with, and to what extent. Once you've done that just bump the thread up and i'll take another look.

Alright, that looks good. I'm going to assume 'near master' means expert, because otherwise he wouldn't be old enough. All seems to be good, so I approve. You're all good to go, have fun!
