Xilingshi Nailah Zoraki	There was not much that Xilingshi could do at this point. she was not necessarily incapacitated, but it hurt to move, and she did not want to expend what little energy she had left trying to move. The words she had uttered to her students once suddenly echoed through her mind... "are you gonna Xili up or are you gonna just lie there and BLEED?!?" Feh. She was here dying. Besides, the battle was over for all intents and purposes. She earned the right to lie here and bleed... besides, she was justified because she only said that during the brutal training regimen. she never bitched at her soldiers this way when they were on the field. these wounds were much more real. Whatever the case, she closed her eyes, hoping to catch a bit of rest, but apparently it was not meabt to be. she could hear Ryuu calling out for her. Good. about time that fucker realized he was in the wrong... she mumbled a few things and slowly responded after he arrived to smack her awake. "What..." she grunted, "finally coming to your senses?"

Ryuu Takeshi	Ryuu smiled when he saw Xi wake up, but the smile quickly disappeared when she opened her mouth. “Come to my senses!? Xi you could have died!” he shouted, “Why didn’t you wait for me?! Why did you try and fly?!” he continued in an angry voice, staring defiantly into her silvery-grey eyes. He was getting angry again, “how could she be so stupid and reckless!” he thought to himself, ignoring the fact that he had been stupid and reckless on the boat. He looked down at her and noticed all her wounds, and all the blood. He suddenly realised that he could have lost her, the person who he was closest with in the entire world, the person he had grown up with, the person who he…loved. His facial expression changed slightly and his gaze shifted from one of defiance into something else entirely. “Xi…” he muttered softly before he suddenly embraced her, squeezing her tightly and nuzzling her head into his chest. He tried speaking, but couldn’t think of anything to say. “I…I’m glad you’re alright,” he finally whispered, “I’m sorry…” This may have seemed uncharacteristic for Ryuu. But if there was one person in the world he cared for more than himself, it was Xilingshi.

Xilingshi Nailah Zoraki	Xilinghsi might have been weak, but she always had the energy for a snappy comeback. "I could have died? wow... brilliant fucking observation. what tipped you off? my broken arm? my twisted ankle, or perhaps my missing eye? surely it wasn't all the blood, was it?" she was exaggerating slightly, but this was just for effect. she sighed either way--grumbled, almost. "Still... thanks for coming back... sorry for being an ass. it's just who I am." she almost chuckled, but it sounded more like a cough. she wanted nothing more than to just lay there and rest. she was hurt and exhausted. the battle though, had been won.

Ryuu Takeshi	Ryuu felt a surge of anger well up inside of him once more as Xi gave one of her usual snarky comebacks, however it quickly subsided. He was just relieved that she was alive. He gave her a smile as he held her in his arms. “Sarcasm huh? I guess you don’t feel as terrible as you look then.” He chuckled. His chuckle almost turned into a laugh at her next remark, although he did appreciate what she said. “Yeah, you’re real bitch sometimes,” he said flashing her a grin, letting her know that he still had some of his own wit left as well. His eyes scanned over her body and he noticed just how bad she had it. “Xi, we need to get you some help,” he whispered in an almost caring voice, slowly beginning to lift her up off the ground, holding her bridal style. Whether she wanted to stay or not, he was getting her to the healers.

Xilingshi Nailah Zoraki	Xilingshi hacked a little, which was supposed to be something of a chuckle. "bingo." she wheezed. she gave him a rather grizzly smile, made worse by the fact that blood was coming out of her nose and mouth, her left eye was gone under an abyss of bruised, bloody flesh, and her right eye looked like it was crying tears from the leaked blood from her forehead... and that was just her face. "damn straight I am." she nodded in agreement. she was quite the bitch sometimes. "you just gotta Xili up and DEAL... ahgaga... with it!" she coughed. this was what she told her disgruntled recruits anytime they complained about her bitchiness. she normally was easy to get along with, but when her instructions were not followed... well yeah. the moment she felt herself being lifted, her left arm, which seemed the most unhurt of her limbs, grabbed her glider. afterwards, she let herself get picked up. "lead on, skipper." she wheezed. she closed her eyes, not really caring where he took her at this point. if fate willed this to be her time, then so be it.

Ryuu Takeshi	Ryuu’s eyes widened. Xi was in bad shaped, and it looked like she was getting worse fast. He picked up his pace, but they were at the base of the mountain, and it was a long way up to the temple. “Xi, you stay with me you hear? I know you think something like this would be a noble or honorable death, but for once don’t be a stubborn, selfish fool and hang in there…I can’t…I can’t lose you,” he whispered in a sincere tone as he made his way up the long, steep and dangerous mountain path. He was going as fast as he could, but he was injured as well and he started getting winded and slowing down.

Xilingshi Nailah Zoraki	She was ignoring most of her pain, but no matter how much she did it, ignoring it would not make it go away. still... she didn't think she would actually die. Well, maybe she would. she had lived a short, but productive life. she had no regrets. "yeah... yeah... gotcha... somethin' about staying alive." she nodded slowly. her right eye closed, as her left eye was still not visible. she frankly didn't care how long it took them to get back. she was tired and could barely move. she had had a bad landing on her ankles when she had flown away, and so she couldn't really move well on her own. she was safe though, insomuch that she was still alive and breathing, at the very least.

Ryuu Takeshi	Ryuu was struggling to climb the steep, winding footpath that led up to the Air Temple. His own injuries and Xi’s weight were starting to take their toll. On top of it all, dark storm clouds were starting to gather, a blessing to airbenders who were fighting the raging fires left behind by the Fire Nation, but a curse for Ryuu as he made the difficult ascent up the mountain. Despite this, he pushed forward, he would get Xi to safety if it killed him…and then she said it: "yeah... yeah... gotcha... somethin' about staying alive." Ryuu stopped dead in his tracks, and flashed Xi a look of utter frustration. “This isn’t a joke Xi!” he said in a dead serious tone, compared to how he normally spoke it had a certain authority behind it. He carefully thought of his next words, it seemed that nothing he has said really gotten through to her. He needed to make her realize how serious their situation was, he wasn’t sure that they were even going to make it. He needed her to understand why he couldn’t lose her, and if he was going to lose her, he needed to let her know how he felt about her. A flash of lightning lit up the sky and a heavy downpour of icy cold rain ensued. Ryuu hopelessly looked up at the sky, he was completely exhausted. Despite the icy chill of the rain, it actually refreshed Ryuu a little as it cascaded down his face. He knew however, that if they didn't find shelter soon, that they would both be freezing cold in no time. He looked back down to Xi, who was still lying in his arms and slowly brought his hand up to her face. His fingers trembling slightly as little drops of water trickled off the tips of them. He stared into her eyes with a strange longing in his, slowly inching his hand closer to her and softly touching her cheek with the very tips of his fingers. He seemed unsure in a way, and yet very caring. As the rain water poured down Xi’s face, it started washing off the excess blood and with a smooth, gentle motion he gently wiped her face clean before softly brushing some stubborn hairs out of her face and back over her head, letting his fingers stroke all the way through her long brown hair as he did so. He didn’t care anymore, his pride had already been hurt enough today and so he took a deep breath and said what he wanted to his whole life: “I can’t lose you Xi…I need you…I…I love you…” he whispered in a tone that probably never came out of his mouth before. It was genuine and sincere, he meant it.

Xilingshi Nailah Zoraki	Xilingshi understood that this was no laughing matter. she just wanted him to save his energy and spare her the lecture. "if it was a joke, I would be laughing." she replied bluntly, still weakly. as battered as she was, she seemed a bit more relaxed hearing the sounds of the storm, and as the rain washed the blood off of her face, it turned out that her left eye was not gone. it was black, but it was intact. Xilingshi's cheeks were soft apart from where they were injured. her left cheek was mostly fine, but her right cheek had two massive cuts in it, running from her mouth to her eye. they looked grizzly, but then again, Xi pretty much completely did at this point. this was certainly not her day in terms of how she looked. there was very little she could or wanted to do at the moment, and so she made no resistance while in Ryuu's arms. when eh spoke to her again, she weakly opened one of her eyes. "I... love you... too..." she mumbled softly. she was too tired to say much else.

Ryuu Takeshi	Ryuu’s face visibly changed when Xi muttered the words, “I love you too,” it became softer, lighter, and a happy, somewhat relieved smile crept across his face. “Xi...” he said happily turning his head slightly and cradling her cheek in his hand as he stared down at her. Suddenly a loud crack of thunder echoed through the mountains, waking Ryuu from his stupor. He began looking around frantically, realising that they needed shelter. Luckily he caught a glimpse of a narrow opening nearby, set against the face of the mountain. Without thinking twice he ran towards it. To his relief, the narrow slit led to a larger cavern and he quickly squeezed through with Xi, careful not to hurt her. Ryuu knew that getting her proper medical help would be near impossible now and so he would have to try and help her himself. He gently lay her down on the ground and kneeled besides her. He carefully peeled her shirt off, revealing an array of deep cuts, some of which were bleeding profusely, draining Xi of a lot of blood. There were also a large number of burns, bruises, and other sorts of injuries. Ryuu immediately pulled off his shirt, which was drenched with rain water, though clean, and began cutting it into strips with his dagger. He then pulled out a little vile of healing salve he kept on him for field dressing and began treating the worst of her wounds, bandaging them up when he was done with strips of fabric from his jacket and undershirt. It was crude, though good enough to stop the bleeding and fight off infection. He was very gentle with her. As he finished dressing the worst of her wounds, and cleaned the rest of her off as best he could. He sat down and gently pulled her head onto his lap to make her more comfortable, taking one of her hands in his and holding it tightly. He then leaned back and closed his eyes, feeling utterly exhausted.

Xilingshi Nailah Zoraki	After saying what she had said, Xilingshi was fine with dying if that was what fate had in store for her. Since she was unable to move by herself (being carried and such) she went with Ryuu into the cave, where thye would be safe from the impending ~~doom~~ storm. at this point, she knew that her life would be in Ryuu's hands, and so she figured that if he wanted her to live, he would do anything in his power to make it so. luckily for her... this seemed to be the case. it would weigh down on her later, as she did not like being in debt. she would much rather have someone be indebted to her, because she knew that she would not worry about getting repaid. as he peeled her shirt off, her damaged bra, which was stuck to it with blood, also came out. Xilingshi did not react at all to her breasts being bared. Xilingshi closed her eyes. she was quite pretty, albeit with all the damage, it was hard to see some of that beauty sheerly form how grizzly she looked. a little cleanup and some proper medical attention could resolve that though. she was bleeding in many places, but it was not a rapid bloodflow, and so it was unlikely that she'd bleed to death. luckily, while some were strong wounds, none were mortal, so Ryuu would not have to worry about losing his childhood sweetheart. "th-thanks..." Xi whispered, almost inaudibly. she didn't need to or feel like adding more.

Ryuu Takeshi	The next morning Ryuu awoke, feeling pretty groggy and looking like hell. He had fallen asleep almost immediately after treating Xi. He tried to sit up straight, but it took a while as he back was incredibly stiff. He cringed in pain and looked down at the wound on his chest; it seemed it had become infected. He cursed under his breath for completely forgetting to dress his own wounds after he helped Xi. He held his head for a few seconds and then looked down at Xi to see if she was still doing fine. His eyes immediately widened and he almost jumped into the air when he saw her, she was topless! He must have been so focused and full off adrenaline the night before that he never even noticed. “Holy shit!” was his instant reaction.

Xilingshi Nailah Zoraki	Xilingshi remained calmly asleep. her bleeding had been curbed, but there was still her injured joints, which were not quite so visible. she remained motionless, only half-conscious. one of her hands was still gripping her glider tightly, and she recognized the way it felt. her pants and gloves were still on, but she was topless. however, she was not really all there, and so she simply closed her eyes and went back to sleep, thinking that this whole mess was just one big dream...

Ryuu Takeshi	Ryuu couldn’t help but stare down at Xi’s face as she lay asleep on his lap. She looked so calm and peaceful, not like the tough-as-nails battle-axe she usually was. She was beautiful, and she was all that Ryuu wanted, ever since they were kids. He did feel a pang of guilt however, staring at her exposed breasts, and so he pulled her clothes back over them to cover them up. It wasn’t to say he didn’t like them, he really did. He just didn’t think he should be staring at them while she was unaware and asleep. He smiled and shook his head as he noticed that she was still clenching her staff. He gently uncurled her cold fingers and removed her staff from her hand. After he put it aside gently held both her hands in his, hoping to warm them up a little. It was bitterly cold, though luckily a ray of sunlight made its way in through a crack in the ceiling, providing some light and warmth.

Xilingshi Nailah Zoraki	Xilinghsi remained peacefully asleep a long time. despite being an airbender, she slept like an earthbender--that is to say, very heavily. she was still completely out when Ryuu put her bra and her shirt back on. even when he unclenched her hand and removed her staff, she was still asleep. she woke up to find her gloved hands in his. for a moment she freaked out, one of her hands yanking away and feeling next to her. however, when they touched her staff, she heaved a sigh of relief, and her hand felt around for Ryuu's hand again, softly putting itself back in. "Sorry..." she whispered softly. her eyes were still closed and she was not moving very much, as she was still injured. however, she was conscious now, and no longer on the brink of life and death. This, at least, was a plus.

Ryuu Takeshi	Ryuu jumped as Xi suddenly woke up and yanked her hand out his, feeling around for her staff. He didn’t expect her to wake up so suddenly and abruptly, but he was glad nonetheless. “XI!” he exclaimed happily, “are you okay?!” he asked in a worried tone, squeezing her hands tightly in his after she slipped her hands back into his. “I can’t tell you how happy I am that you are alive! I thought I might lose you forever!” he said pulling her up and giving her a warm and loving embrace. He winced a bit from the pain of his own wound, but nothing was going to stop him from holding Xi as tightly as he could in his strong arms. “Xili...” he whispered happily as he cradled her against him. He was just saying her name happily, relieved that his childhood sweetheart was doing better, not addressing her to ask her a question.

Xilingshi Nailah Zoraki	Xilingshi just nodded slowly, still too tired and/or weak for words. she almost cracked a smile as she snuggled closer to Ryuu, closing her eyes again. she still looked pretty grizzly, as there was plenty of dirt and blood that the rain (and Ryuu's treatment) had not washed away. she slowly breathed in and out gently as Ryuu snuggled her and whispered her name. She was fine with the situation right now. soon they would have to get back and get proper treatment, but for now, or even perhaps if she died... she knew that she would die happy.

Ryuu Takeshi	Ryuu was happy. Despite their injuries, despite what had happened to the Air Temple, despite it all, Ryuu was safe and sound with Xi, and he was at peace. After a long, loving and wordless snuggle, Ryuu started to move. He grunted as he stood to his feet, pulling Xilingshi up as well and setting her on his back, his hands holding her up by her butt. He knew that it would still be a long hike up to the temple and that piggybacking her would put the least strain on his injured body. “You okay back there Xili?” he asked in a soft, but concerned voice, still being worried about her. He slowly bent over, picked up her staff and handed it to her, knowing she would never leave it behind. And with that, he was off, walking out of the cave and back onto the treacherous mountain path. At least the rain had ceased and the sun was out. Ryuu walked at a slow, steady pace. He couldn’t help but notice the warmth of Xilingshi’s body pressing up against his back, the feel of her butt in his hands and the way her arms were wrapped around him. It all made him blush slightly, but he shook his head and pressed on. He had to get them both some proper medical attention

Xilingshi Nailah Zoraki	Xilingshi hardly moved even as she felt her small frame being lifted. one of her hands went rigid, reaching out towards where she knew her staff was, but that was pacified the moment he handed it to her. "I'm fine..." she mumbled softly. she sounded very tired more than anything. she leaned her had on his shoulder and closed her eyes. she wasn't paying great attention at the moment, but if she had been, she might have thought this his hands felt good where they were. at the moment though, she was still hurting too much to realize it, and so she did not react. she would wait till they got back, and got healed a bit before thinking along those lines.

Ryuu Takeshi	Ryuu felt like he had been walking forever when he finally arrived back at the Air Temple. He was in bad shape as he slowly limped forward with Xi on his back. A sense of tiredness suddenly washed over him and his vision started to blur. The last thing he remembered seeing was a few worried-looking Tekina-Kaze warriors running towards them. ******************************************** Ryuu’s eyes opened slowly as he came to. He quickly shut them again as they were not yet adjusted to the light. After a few moments he cautiously re-opened them and started looking around, he was quite confused and had no idea where he was. Instinctively, he tried sitting up but a sharp pain suddenly shot through his body from his chest wound. His hand instantly darted to the source of the pain and Ryuu realized that his entire chest had been bandaged up. He laid his head back on the pillow and let out a sigh of relief, realizing that they had made it. “Wait!” he thought to himself, “where is she!?” He started looking around, almost frantically. “Xi! Xili!?” he asked desperately as his head turned this way and that as he searched the room for her. He wouldn’t relax until he knew that she made it safe and sound too.

Xilingshi Nailah Zoraki	Xilingshi's own memory was hazy, but she remembered reaching the temple somehow, and perhaps by fate's pure blessing. She was not sure if she was dead or alive, but it seemed that she was the latter of the two. How or why... she knew not. She remembered dreaming of the events that had just transpired... the whole siege against the Temple, the attacks, the Tekina-Kaze raids. Ryuu was there as well, and she could hear him yelling her name. She was in pain... dying maybe? it did seem like she was slowly fazing out of the scene... or out of the dream, at least. Perhaps this was how she knew it was a dream. She woke up in the Hospital Ward. That was strange though... she could still hear Ryuu's voice. "I'm... fine..." she instinctively replied, though her voice was hoarse from being tired. Luckily there was a big thing of water next to her, which was to her left. Apparently her left arm was alright. she took it and drained it, but then laid back down. she was sure she had broken something in more places than one. hopefully Ryuu noticed her and quieted down though. she couldn't move, and didn't really want to.

Ryuu Takeshi	The moment Ryuu heard Xilingshi’s voice, he relaxed. His head slowly turned towards the direction of the voice and he smiled happily when he saw Xilingshi. She looked much better and much cleaner than she did just a few hours before. “God she’s beautiful,” he thought to himself as he stared lovingly at her very pretty face. Suddenly, his eyes widened and he quickly looked away, realizing that he had been staring. He instantly began to remember what had happened back on the beach, and how he confessed his love to her. He blushed a little and wondered if she felt the same…She said she did, but then again she had lost quite a lot of blood and was probably not thinking clearly. At least, that is what Ryuu thought might have been the case. He immediately blocked off those thoughts and put up his nonchalant “deflect with humor” front, to avoid facing his true feelings for her and avoid a potentially awkward situation. “Thanks by the way, I hope you realize this is all your fault!” he said with a teasing chuckle.

Xilingshi Nailah Zoraki	Xilingshi's hair was still down, as they certainly ween't going to do it up while she was lying in bed recovering. there were far more pressing matters, and Xi had been in too critical a condition for her to even care, even if she had wanted to. She was quite pretty, though those scars on her cheek looked nasty--and worse, they looked permanent. "you're welcome." and I know it's my fault. if it weren't for me, we'd both be dead, eh?" she chuckled weakly, and closed her eyes again. she didn't turn to face him, not out of any type of grudge, but simply becuase she was exhausted and needed to recover. She was also aware that Ryuu had probably saved her life just as well, and so she knew that if there was or had been any life debt, that it had been repaid.

Ryuu Takeshi	“Yeah, yeah,” Ryuu chuckled at Xi’s answer, she always had snarky comebacks. He didn’t see what had happened as something of a debt. He would save Xi over and over again if he had to, and not expect any kind of repayment in return. He loved her and she was someone he would unquestionably die for if he had to. He winced in pain as he shifted around in bed to get into a more comfortable position, but other than that he remained silent and perfectly still. While he may have looked peaceful, Ryuu’s mind was in turmoil. He couldn’t stand not talking about what had happened. Eventually, he couldn’t hold it in any longer. “Xili…about yesterday…about what we said to each other…” he started slowly, suddenly pausing as he began getting nervous and began to stumble over his own words in his mind.

Xilingshi Nailah Zoraki	Xi chuckled. "good to see we're still flirting as usual." she quipped, finding the way they always talked smack about each other in direct and indirect ways to be rather amusing. she was selfless insomuch that she would gladly lay her life down for a friend, but Ryuu in particular. Hers was perhaps a bit less personal, however, given that she would do so for nearly anyone that she cared about or befriended. It was just the painfully selfless nature that Xilingshi possessed. her smile disappeared when he spoke again. she was not suddenly saddened, but rather just curious as to what he was going to say. "don't worry about it..." she suggested, "we both made mistakes, but we both came out of it alive. that's what matters the most..." she closed her eyes again, as she was quite tired.
