Tarek Raiden	Tarek grinned as Varsha asked Kaede to show her the stances again. He could just see in Kaede’s happy little face that she felt important. He carefully watched as Varsha began imitating the moves, and as Tarek expected, she got the hang of them pretty quick. He walked over to her as she began taking deep breaths and placed his right hand over her stomach, feeling for her chi energy. “Think of what you are doing as fanning the fire, just as a small wisp of wind can make a fire stronger, every breath you take stokes your inner flame. Feel your chi energy grow, expand, ebb as you inhale and flow, spread and expand through your body as you exhale.” He said as he felt her energy. “Let me know when you start feeling…different.”

Varsha Zere Zakau	Kaede smiled at Varsha when she saw the taller girl imitate her moves. "that's good!" she replied, though put your arms like this..." she took Varsha's hands and adjusted her arms just a few inches. the difference was minimal but Varsha smiled and whispered a "thanks" anyways. afterwards, the tiny girl skipped a few steps away to stand with her daddy. Varsha nodded as she listened, and continued taking deep breaths. gradually, she began to feel more energized--not just from physical energy, but also from chi energy. it was an interesting feeling, and she figured that Tarek would either recognize it himself, or that at least, she should let him know that she was aware of it. "I feel something." she said softly, "I feel... energy... flowing..."

Tarek Raiden	Tarek let out a smile, feeling her chi energy begin to grow, just as she mentioned it. “Good, that’s exactly what you are meant to feel. That's your chi energy being replenished.” He said as he took her hand off her belly, satisfied with her performance, “you need to do these exercises every day, they will help you keep your energy levels up during fights, meaning you will be more powerful, for longer periods of time.” He ruffled Kaede’s hair as she came to stand by him and gently placed one hand on her little shoulder. “Thank you sweetheart, you’ve done a great job!” Tarek looked at Varsha again. “That was the lesson for today, but before I dismiss you, I would like to spar with you, to see your overall progress so I can plan tomorrow’s training.” He said, stepping into the center of the room. “Kaede, you go sit over there,” he said pointing to a safe place outside of the circle, “and Varsha, you take as long as you need to recover. After that, I want you to attack me.” He said as he put his palms of his hands together, closed his eyes, and waited patiently.

Varsha Zere Zakau	"Ah!" Varsha exclaimed, as if this was surprising revelation to her, since it was. "I definitely will then." she promised, though given her nature, this was basically a given. Varsha liked trying out new things, especially if they made her stronger, smarter, or more skilled in some way. she was always one for learning and building skills. Kaede beamed, and it even made Varsha smile. "thanks!" she smiled happily, "and you're welcome, daddy!" Varsha nodded when she heard Tarek's request. she figured that she would get easily owned, but that would just make her stronger. She remembereed the words of one of her old teachers. "fight with honor and accept defeat with grace." She lived by that motto when she sparred and fought. this time would be no different?" "What are the terms?" she asked curiously, "bending only? hand-to-hand? only certain techniques?" the rules always varied it seemed, and Varsha didn't mind it. she just figured that she would do something as she caught her breath.

Tarek Raiden	Tarek gave Varsha an approving nod, he had no doubt that she meant what she had said, and that she would work on her breathing exercises. He was very proud of her as his student as she really worked hard, and was both dedicated and disciplined. What he was most impressed with, however, was that despite her obvious intelligence and high self-confidence, she never questioned his teachings. That in itself, showed Tarek that she had more wisdom than many people he had met in his life. To many students wanted to do things their own way, and only listened partly to their masters, if they even listened at all. Ninety-five percent wouldn’t cut it, and Varsha was one of the only students that followed Tarek’s teachings one-hundred percent, he knew she would go far. “Ah, good question...bending only please, and use any technique you can.” He said with a smile, “your martial art skilss are formidable enough, and you don’t need much more training in that area.” He still had his head bowed, eyes closed, and his hands together, “and Varsha…don’t hold back…I need to see you fighting at your fullest.” He continued as he took a deep breath and waited.

Varsha Zere Zakau	Varsha smiled. She was a child with an interesting philosophy on the world and on knowledge. She knew that not only did people do things differently, but that there was no "right" or "wrong" way to do them. she never questioned this when they taught her, other than perhaps asking them what their reasoning was out of curiosity. Varsha learned the various ways people would do things, and whichever one she thought would work best would be the one she used. Luckily for her, most of Tarek's ways seemed effective thus far, so she had little if any reason to swap them out. She had long since been taught by her parents to put her all into everything she did, and this was the type of dedication that followed her around everywhere. She would never leave a task unfinished or a skill unlearned. She always gave it her all. Varsha nodded, soon taking a fighting stance. "I understand then." she indicated. "I am ready." she would be using martial arts anyways because many of them were just part of her fighting/firebending style. As soon as he was ready, she lunged at him with a series of fireballs that she launched in a barrage toward him. she added a sweeping kick of flames from her feet afterwards, seeing how he would react.

Tarek Raiden	Tarek grinned as she unleashed a barrage of fireballs towards him, he could already sense that her flames were much more powerful than they had been the last time they sparred. He quickly reacted to her attack, raising his right hand up in front of him, throwing up a fire shield. He waited out her siege, his flaming barrier absorbing her attacks. He knew that this wasn’t all he could expect from her and sure enough, she followed up with an impressive sweeping kick attack. Tarek instantly brought his hands together in front of him, letting out a loud clap which released a large burst of flames outwards, completely enveloping her second attack, destroying it before it could reach him. He quickly retaliated, throwing a quick jab with his left hand, releasing a small but extremely fast fireblast her way. As soon as his attack was released, he quickly followed up, creating a long flaming whip from his right hand, slashing it downwards in a sweeping motion, aiming squarely for her legs.

Varsha Zere Zakau	Varsha knew that Tarek's attacks (or defenses, as this case might be) would be stronger than hers, and so when he blocked all of her attacks, she was hardly surprised, but she did not waste a single moment in reacting. if he wanted her to take the offensive, she would. she also figured that if he wanted to ever win, that he would have to take an offensive against her all the same. Sure enough, she was soon back on the defensive. she bent over backwards to dodge the first attack, and as she noticed the sweeping flames approaching her bare feet, she set her hands on the ground. if she had frozen like this, she would be in a very awkward position. however, since she did not, instead, she sprung onto her hands and flipped away from the attack, kicking her feet in the process to launch a couple of strong fireballs his way. once back on her feet, she threw a wall of flame towards him with her hands and feet. while it was not very thick, it was quite large.

Tarek Raiden	Varsha’s agility and dexterity impressed Tarek as she avoided his attacks with an acrobatic flip, even managing to kick out a few fireballs as she did it. Tarek was never a believer in brute force; he believed that the key to success in fighting was in speed, agility, and of course, wisdom. He quickly prepared himself for her incoming attacks, lifting his hands up in front of him and taking a stance that closely resembled one which airbenders typically used. He gracefully spun to left and the right a few times, avoiding each one of the approaching fireballs. He was extremely fast and agile, though not as much as he used to be when he was Varsha’s age and definitely not as much as Varsha was now. He was pleased to see she was using her advantages against him. As Varsha’s large wall of fire sped towards him, he smirked. She had definitely improved since last time they fought, more than Tarek had initially thought. However, he was still the master and had been firebending for longer than she had been alive. He closed his eyes and stretched out his left hand towards it, reaching out with his senses, feeling the warmth of her flames. His outstretched hand started to tremble slightly as he began bending her flames to his will, wrestling for control of them. Suddenly the flame wall began to slow down and Tarek’s eyes flew open, glowing a bright orange color. He immediately thrust his right arm forward, pushing Varsha’s own attack directly back at her, making it faster and more deadly in the process.

Varsha Zere Zakau	Varsha was a devious and cunning child; an expert at riddles and tricks, both mental and physical. Her end goal could be considered rather selfish, given that she wished more than most anything else to endlessly increase her skills and knowledge. However, she knew that she could not do it alone, and so it had her respecting those that she knew, knew more than her. She admired Tarek's agility, but she was not afraid to use her own advantages to her benefit. She was still in her prime, after all. Besides, it was not like Tarek was going easy on her, and for that, she was glad. She took it as a personal insult if anyone ever went easy on her. the moment Varsha saw her attack turned against her, she knew that she was in trouble. However, fear was one of the few words that Varsha did not know the definition of. however, she had had plenty of time to calculate her options and how she would react to it. after a second or two of quick thinking, Varsha had her answer. as the wall of flames approached her, she charged straight towards it, taking a deep breath. her hands lit up with flames, and she dove through the wall. She performed a rolling landing and the moment she was back on her feet she sprung back up and launched another stream of flames from her hands, which she had fuelled previously by flaring them up.

Tarek Raiden	The way Varsha dived through the wall made Tarek grin. He appreciated skill and finesse in any form, and Varsha had bucket loads of it. But he had other things to worry about as Varsha followed up, attacking Tarek with a large stream of continuous flame. Tarek instantly raised his arms in front of him, making a large ‘V’ with his palms facing inwards. A little flame materialised between his outstretched arms and started spinning in a large circle between them. It quickly began moving faster and faster as it created a rapid-spinning vortex between his hands. The instant Varsha’s stream of flame reached Tarek, it instantaneously got sucked up by Tarek’s vortex. Her flames mingled with his and started spinning along with it, fueling it, and making it larger. The longer she shot her flames the larger Tarek’s maelstrom of fire became. It rapidly began spinning outwards as it engulfed Varsha’s flames, feeding of off it, continually growing more powerful as it closed in with Varsha. He smirked, wondering how she would react.

Varsha Zere Zakau	Varsha treaded the fine line between confidence and arrogance, often steering clear and back into the "confidence" territory. she knew what she was capable of, but also knew that there was much more for her to learn. she dove through her wall without even singing her bare feet, which was another testament to her skill, and another reason she fought barefoot. if she could keep even her feet from getting hurt, it meant she was nimble enough to avoid most hits. She was observant and noticed immediately that he was simply absorbing her attacks. she had been charging towards him in a barrage of flames, but as she saw this, she took a deep breath and swept her hands to the sides, hoping to divert her flames towards the walls so they would fizzle out, instead of adding to his power. she was also careful not to accidentally hit little Kaede. She flipped backwards onto her hands, and then back onto her feet, putting some distance between herself and Tarek. She wanted to see what he would do with that powerful vortex of flames, and so she took a defensive stance in the meantime.

Tarek Raiden	Varsha figured out Tarek’s vortex trick pretty quickly and soon stopped fueling it with her attacks. However the vortex was already quite large, and was making a strange pulsating sound as it whirled between his arms. Tarek noticed her flip back and put some distance between them and he knew that it was now time to release all this stored up energy he had kept contained. He started taking deep breaths, each one making the flames grow larger and more powerful. He closed his eyes tightly and his face contorted, almost as if he was lifting something heavy. With a grunt, he started closing his arms, pushing his palms downward against the rapidly spinning vortex, slowly compressing it. It was hard work and his hands were trembling slightly as he bended and wrestled the flames into an unnatural state, squeezing them into a small, rapidly-rotating little ball, while still keeping the flames energy and power at the same level as before. It was a very ancient, difficult and dangerous master-level technique he had learned in his travels. In a matter of seconds, Tarek’s vortex had become about the size of a large grapefruit. He glanced up at Varsha , and then his eyes searched the room for Kaede, luckily, he found her sitting behind him, so she would be safe. He glanced back at Varsha and gave her a small smile before he released the rapidly spinning ball at her at a blistering pace. The attack whizzed through the air, making an odd high-pitched whistle as it did. Varsha would quickly find that she wasn’t the target; instead Tarek had aimed at the ground a few feet in front of her. When the ball hit the ground, it would explode, and release all the pent up energy it contained, shooting up ridiculous amounts of flames and a very strong shockwave. It was a monstrous attack to launch at his student, but he had faith in her, after all, he knew she never liked people going easy on her.

Varsha Zere Zakau	Varsha took a defensive stand and held it, watching his flame closely. she needed to figure out what he was doing so she could react to it. Sudddenly, particularly right as he began condensing his flames, she knew exactly what was going on. This was a trick she had heard that many of the Western and Eastern Airbenders were famous for. She had not actually seen the move, but she was familiar with the Tekina-Kaze AKA the "Demolition Crew"... those explosively powerful airbenders who condensed a ball of air, threw it at their enemies, and then allowed it to expand and explode. she knew that the move's creator, Xilingshi, led that group. This seemed to be basically a firebending version of that, which made it more dangerous, given the heat and potential to burn her face, hands, or feet (or her clothes, though she would much rather have them burned off than her skin). the moment he launched it at her, she knew that she would have to run, regardless of where he aimed it. She knew that she lacked the power to cope with that sort of explosion, and so she jumped, kicking her feet to shoot flames and propel her further away. the fireball exploded with great force, and Varsha wrestled for control of the flames tat came her away. luckily they all didn't come at her, otherwise she would have been undoubtedly overwhelemed. still... she was fighting very fiercely to protect herself from these flames, and was draining her energy fast, as it was still proving to be too much for her to handle. she grunted, almost yelling, though it wasn't a call for help; just her yelling mostly at herself as she tried to save herself.

Tarek Raiden	As Varsha disappeared behind the large, fiery explosion, Tarek dropped out of his fighting stance, he had seen enough. He glanced back at a gasping Kaede, “Don’t worry sweetheart, daddy wouldn’t do something that he knew Varsha couldn’t handle…she will be okay,” he said with a reassuring voice and a smile. He got worried for a second as he heard Varsha yell, but quickly shook any doubt off. Varsha was ready for this, he knew it, and even though she might emerge from the flames exhausted, he knew that she would emerge unharmed. He expectantly stared into the pillar of smoke and fire as it rose from the ground, waiting for it to settle and for his pupil to be revealed.

Varsha Zere Zakau	Kaede looked at him with adorable little pleading eyes. "I hope you're right, daddy. I'd be really sad if Varsha got hurt." She and Varsha were already good friends, and Kaede didn't want someone she loved to get hurt. she hoped that Varsha would get out alright. she believed her daddy and her friend, but there was always a little sliver of uncertainty in the mind of a child in intense situations like this. however, she would soon be pleased. Varsha emerged from the flames unscathed, but very sweaty and winded. "I... hooooooo-ahhhh!" she exclaimed, wiping her forehead with her sleeve. "is it hot in here or is it just me?"

Tarek Raiden	Tarek couldn’t help but smile at Kaede as she stood with a worried look on her face. She was really sweet and incredibly adorable. “Come here sweetheart,” he whispered holding out his hand for her. The fight was over and he wanted her to be close to him again, feeling a little bad that he gave her a slight scare. It wasn’t long before Varsha was visible again, and to Tarek's relief, she looked unscathed though quite winded. Tarek chuckled at her remark. “Very good Varsha! There are few expert level firebenders that could have handled that attack like you just did! I’m very proud of you!” he said with an approving nod. He then picked up Kaede and squeezed her, “we also had Kaede a little worried there,” he continued putting her softly back on the ground, “I think she would like a hug from you too, Varsha,” he chuckled. He waited until Varsha and Kaede were done before speaking again. “Any questions about the fight?” he asked, happy to explain anything she wanted to know. After all, Varsha would never learn if she never got a chance to ask questions.

Varsha Zere Zakau	Kaede scampered over to Tarek, throwing herself into his embrace. she felt a bit of comfort in knowing that daddy wouldn't really hurt her best friend. she watched, and her little face lit up with excitement when she saw Varsha emerge unhurt. Kaede giggled when squeezed, and Varsha made a respectful gesture towards Tarek. "good to know." she nodded, though it was clear she was tired and hot, "thank you." she smiled sweetly at Kaede, and happily gave her a hug. after a few minutes of hugging, Tarek popped a question. Varsha thought about it for a while, thinking long and hard. "how did you do that?" she asked, "turning my attacks against me and such... and how did you know that I wasn't going to get hurt?" otherwise, it had been clear. he was a master, and she was not, which was why he had won.

Tarek Raiden	Tarek was smiling as Varsha asked him her questions; mostly because of how cute his giggling little daughter was as she gave out her little huggles. Despite the smiling, he did listen intently to what Varsha had asked. “Well, about how I knew you wouldn’t get hurt…I didn’t really,” he replied, “I could never be a hundred percent sure whether or not any of my hits would hurt you, or whether or not any of your hits would hurt me…but I had faith in your abilities. From what you have shown me so far, I determined that you were ready…and you were,” He smiled. “Besides, I don’t believe in taking it easy on my students, although I would never do something I didn’t think you could handle, or something that could have severely injured you or put you in deliberate danger.” He reassured her. Tarek sat and assumed a meditation position, before gesturing for her to do the same. “About redirected attacks,” he started, “any firebender with enough will and control can wrestle for the control of another’s flames and then redirect them back at the attacker, although it is a particularly difficult technique.” He paused and noticed that Kaede was still standing. He smiled and offered for her to come and sit on his lap before continuing. “The water benders are particularly skilled at redirecting attacks,” he explained, “and so that’s where I learned from. After years of practice, I adapted their forms into a firebending technique that helps us firebenders redirect fire-based attacks more easily.” Tarek paused momentarily and smiled, and then chuckled. “If you are interested, we can begin some redirection training tomorrow?” he asked.

Varsha Zere Zakau	Varsha listened attentively, nodding once he was finished. she also couldn't help but smile despite being dripping with sweat. little giggling Kaede was just too irresistably cute. ^^ "ah..." she nodded, "well, it's good to know what you're not going to kill me, but also that you're not going easy on me. it makes me realize that I am actually making progress. that is something I obviously approve of." this was again one of those times when she didn't have much to say other than to listen. he was teaching her, after all. she took this information all in, and mentally noted that she should visit the Water Tribes one of these days... or maybe get a lesson from the legendary Zerviah Foxx herself. "yes." she replied in response to his question, "I would love to. although, right now... I should probably cool off. too many more Kaede-hugs with me like this and she'll get her clothes all wet from my sweat..." she chuckled lightly. Kaede just giggled.

Tarek Raiden	Tarek laughed. “Yes of course, training is over for the day, go do what you must…and again…well done Varsha!” he said with an approving nod. “Kaede and I will see you in a bit.” He smiled, knowing that Varsha probably wanted some privacy. Tarek took Kaede’s hand and softly pulled her onto his lap. He snuggled her tightly and stroked through her long brown hair. “So what do you think Kaede?” he chuckled as Varsha left, “How did Varsha do?” he asked. He always liked the perspective his kids gave, they were smart, and he usually got a few laughs from their adorable answers xD

Varsha Zere Zakau	Varsha nodded. "aye... at least let me clean up... I'll spare you two from having to see me undressed again..." she chuckled. she disappeared, and Kaede happiily giggled in Tarek's lap. Kaede smiled. "I think she did wonderful. she's really good. daddy... I want to talk to Varsha after we leave... she's really nice and I want to see how well she learns firebending..." she paused. "unless she can live with us?" this was doubtful, but Kaede was a little child. if she couldn't bring her best friend home to live with her, then she at least wanted to stay in touch. Varsha returned about 20 minutes later, dressed again in her sparring clothes (the same ones she had on before), but cleaned up and no longer looking and smelling sweaty. she sat down next to them. "so what does that mean we do with the rest of the day, Sifu Tarek?" she asked curiously, turning to him and Kaede. Varsha was not often one to sit idly...

Tarek Raiden	Tarek chuckled at Varsha as he left and snuggled with Kaede as she jumped onto his lap. He loved his little girl to bits. When she answered his question and asked if Varsha could live with them he laughed loudly, snuggling her even tighter and showering her cute, little face with kisses. She was just so adorable and sweet! “Sweetheart!” he chuckled, “Varsha has her own home and her own family! I suspect they would be very upset if Varsha comes to live with us, just like daddy would be very upset if you went to go live somewhere else!” he said as he tucked some stray hair behind her little ears, “maybe you two can write letters to each other hmm? Become pen pals? I bet Varsha would be very impressed at how well you can read and write already!” Soon Varsha came back in, looking clean and refreshed. Tarek smiled happily when she asked him what else there was to do for the day. “Well Varsha, maybe you would like to come along with us…I want to show Kaede the nearby waterfall, and at the same time I can explain the redirection technique to you a little better?” He said with a grin, ruffling Kaede’s hair.

Varsha Zere Zakau	Kaede giggled as Varsha left and as Tarek showered her with kisses. "I was just asking, daddy... besides... if I don't ask the the answer would automatically be no!" when he suggested they be pen-pals though, her little face lit up again. "oooohhh that's a great idea! Varsha, do you want--" she began, but then realizsed that she was probably changing. she could wait, and so sat back in Tarek's lap. when Varsha returned, Kaede instantly exploded into a little excited explanation of Tarek's suggestion. Varsha had to ask her twice about it, and so she slowed down and repeated herself. to cut a long story short, Varsha agreed with Kaede's request, to which Kaede squealed with happiness and hugged Varsha, despite being almost less than half her height. she smiled. "that... would actually be good for me I think. besides, I think Kaede is trying to guilt me into going anyways." she laughed and motioned towards Kaede's puppy-eyed expression, which even the cunning Varsha was unable to resist. the kid was oddly charismatic. xD

Tarek Raiden	“Well then let’s go then,” Tarek said with a smile, lifting Kaede up and putting her on her neck. He smiled and Varsha and whispered, “don’t worry, there isn’t anyone alive who can resist her charms,” he joked as he walked them out of the tower and toward the waterfall. He playfully bounced Kaede up and down on his shoulders as they walked along. It wasn’t long before they arrived, and it was a beautiful sight to behold. The waterfall was massive, and it thundered as it crashed down into the river below, kicking up a fine mist and making a little rainbow in the sunlight. Tarek looked up at Kaede, holding her little ankles as she sat on his shoulders. “What do you think sweetheart?” he chuckled. He grinned and gave Varsha a happy look. He was waiting for Kaede to spot the tiny, little white flowers that only grew close to the foot of the waterfall. They were tough to spot from where they were standing, but Tarek knew Kaede would see them eventually.
