Loki

Loki flew down and landed at the gate of Chin Village. She had decided to fly instead of walk, because walking was horrible.

"Well, my friends, we're here. Chin Village!,"

She walked into the town and found it to be very middle class. She couldn't really spot any upper class or lower class individuals among them. It was very strange, and Loki could not find class distinction. Loki needed both rich and poor people for her escapades. This would not do at all.

"Is this it? Are there poor districts or rich quarterings?," Loki inquired to her friends. Maybe the people by the gate were just middle class. She looked at her friends with fear in her eyes. She was being a bit overdramatic, and she knew she could always go to the next town if this one didn't work. The important thing that she'd forgotten was Zai's arrow wound.

Zai breathed in deeply the smell of the ocean. It'd been a long time since he'd been in this village. Loki welcomed her new companions to the village... Not that they'd have gotten here without Zai's explicit directions. The other two even though east from Gaoling would get them towards Chin Village.

"Is this it? Are there poor districts or rich quarterings?," Loki inquired, Zai passing her-- hiding his limp only barely.

"No, Loki. Chin Village has always been one to share what wealth they have between all their families. Nobody really is poor nor rich. Even the Village Elder is no more wealthy than his neighbors," Zai stated, showing strange amount of knowledge of the area. He had, after all, come here almost weekly with his adopted family when he lived on Kiyoshi island. He just hoped this was as close to home as he got. In fact, even here he covered his face almost completely with his cloth wrapping, hiding all but one eye from view.

But even with his face hidden, one of the guards looked at him weirdly, as if in confused recognition. Zai hurried on into the village streets to avoid confrontation.

"No, Loki. Chin Village has always been one to share what wealth they have between all their families. Nobody really is poor nor rich. Even the Village Elder is no more wealthy than his neighbors," Zai said, snapping Nokomi out of her thoughts. The whole way here, she'd been completely silent, but she spoke up now.

"Since you apparently know so much of little Chin Village, then perhaps you'd know where we can get some food?" she asked. She was completely starving, and cared for little else at the moment.

All she had in her bag were some disgusting pieces of bark that she ate only when absolutely necessary, as in when she wasn't around any villages or towns. She was also exhausted, and couldn't wait to find a nice, high tree to sleep in. Noticing a slight limp to Zai's usual smooth walk, she spoke again, quietly. "You should probably also go see someone about that wound, Zai."

"Since you apparently know so much of little Chin Village, then perhaps you'd know where we can get some food," Nokomi asked in turn.

"Well. We could always go to the seaside market. But no stealing here. This village has little enough as is. I'll pay for our food," he'd say, hoping they wouldn't dig deeper into the fact. He had little money, but he knew the market here well. One could get plenty on a little money.

Nokomi then pointed out his wound. "I'll be fine. I'll get some medical supplies while we shop for food. Cheaper that way for me to treat it myself." It was strange how indifferent he seemed to be concerning the wound. It did pain him, and he was feeling weak from bleeding the whole trip here, but it'd healed a little on it's own with a hand constantly over it. Zai lead them through the unbusy streets of Chin until they reached the marked. Here, it was a little crowded, but nothing amazing. Only locals shopping for daily foods, really.

Loki said he doesn't really feel like replying, so......yeah.

Nokomi

Nokomi nodded at Zai's answer, before looking around the market, her hand twitching. Whether this was just another reaction to the people around, or because she just really wanted to take something so she could eat right away, she didn't know, but controlled it anyway. She dug into her bag, pulling out a few small coins. How odd it was to actually be paying for something, but Zai was right about these people needing everything they had. They couldn't afford to be stolen from.

Although Zai had offered to pay for their food, she was fine doing it herself. She didn't necessarily want nor need someone else helping her survive. She passed a few coins to a man, and he in turn passed her a bowl of hot food. She thanked him, then looked to Loki, saying, "You want anythin'?"

Loki

Loki observed the people of Chin Village and was disappointed in each and every one. Didn't they know they could have it all with just a bit of deception and corruption? They could be rich and beat out their neighbors! Wasn't that what everyone was supposed to aspire for? Well Loki would just have to show them, some way, somehow. She gazed lazily at the market. The merchandise was disappointing; it contained nothing of value to Loki's appraising eyes. Food was fine, but it wouldn't leave a mark on anyone.

"You want anythin'?"

"Eh, sure," Loki responded.

She sat on a bench nearby and put her hand on her chin with her elbow resting on her leg. She'd wait for her food with her sheer disappointment giving off a sense of unrefined poutiness. She stuck her lip out a bit unconsciously. When Nokomi gave her her food, Loki handed her some of the cash she'd saved up from reselling stolen goods.

"Paying for stuff. Who knew I'd be reduced to it?"

[OoC: Oh god. Sorry for the huge post, guys. Kinda got out of hand with Anaja. ><]

Hakota-Zai

Nokomi took well to the fact these people were worse off than they were, buying her own food, even offering to buy Loki's at that. Zai merely dropped his juan back into his pocket, saving it for medical supplies. Loki's response was less understanding, as she began to pout about having nothing to steal.

"Sorry, Loki, but stealing isn't everything.. At least we're safe here," he said, grunted through his wound. He felt dizzy, but he'd be fine. He'd taken plenty of arrows to worse spots before. He just needed some minor medical attention. But no medical supplies nor care could prepare him for the re-opening of a wound that'd come next.

"Hako?.... Zai, is that you!?" It was the voice of a fairly young woman, barely out of her teens. Hakota didn't have the time to even fully turn around before he was nearly tackled by the young lady in Kiyoshi Warrior robes and armor. On a good day, Zai could of held his weight and the girl's, but with a piercing wound in his side, he had little choice but to keel over with the girl's arms still about him in a tight hug, which let a yelp from her as the two fell to the ground.

The girl didn't seem to mind. On the ground or not, she smiled broadly with delicate features painted in the tradition of the Kiyoshi. "Is it really you, Zai? Am I seeing things? Where have you been? Why are you so weak now," she barraged him with questions as he gasped for air beneath her awkwardly strong embrace. It took her a moment to realize the mercenary was in pain, and bleeding everywhere. She quickly got off of him. "Krap. I'm sorry. You're hurt, Hako. Do you need help?"

Zai merely coughed for air, standing weakly. He looked to his new acquaintances, seeming to ignore the oddness of what had just occurred. He had wished more than anything that he wouldn't have been recognized, but here he was, standing in front of the only person in the world who'd recognize him no matter what. The girl, too, seemed to be eying Zai's companions expectantly, only to realize Zai was just glaring in that funny-to her- one-eyed way he always did.

She patted Zai on the shoulder once, speaking abruptly again-did she ever stop?-, "Wow, Zai... You're quite the swinger, bagging two chicks like that. How do you-" she began, but Zai quickly cut her off.

"They're friends, Anaja... You can shut up now. That's Loki, and that's Nokomi," he said, pointing to the two respectfully as he introduced them. "Nokomi, Loki... This is Anaja... An old friend." He slunk over again, grasping his side, looking as if his day couldn't get any worse.

Loki

Loki blinked in surprise at the sudden tackle of her acquaintance. She watched the discussion between what seemed to be old friends and made a bit of a pretension eye roll. The young woman did remind Loki that Zai was hurt, and she felt a bit bad that she'd forgotten about it. She would never admit it though. She watched the ensuing conversation with mild interest, her face haughty with pride. The girl made the assumption that Zai was with her and Nokomi at the same time, and Loki gave a small and deep laugh at this. While Zai was nice looking, Loki was a bit of a loner, she couldn't imagine herself in a serious relationship with anyone. This woman was confident, and Loki took that as a bit of a challenge.

"What's up?" Loki said to Anaja, "You two old lovers or somethin'?" She decided to continue the strange perception that Zai had been with a million chicks, all while he was slowly collapsing from pain.

Nokomi

Nokomi stared at the sky with a bored expression on her face as Zai's friend Anaja began speaking, and barely batted an eyelash when she implied that he was with two girls at once. Loki retaliated with something most likely witty, but Nokomi wasn't really listening.

She was looking at a bulletin board in Chin Village, reading off the names of wanted people, and focusing on the pictures. She had no idea where her brother was, and therefore didn't really think that looking for him as a criminal was a bad idea. She sighed when she didn't see it, finally paid attention to the others, and noticed the girl named Anaja.

Pretty, small features with the face-paint of the Kiyoshi warriors. Other than this, Nokomi didn't pay her much attention, but diverted it towards Zai, who was slumped over from his wounds. Well, seeing as how this talkative girl wasn't going to let him get supplies for himself soon, she pulled some white cloth wrapped in a tight ball out of her bag. They were bandages, not very good ones, but perhaps they'd staunch the bleeding.

Too bad she hadn't thought of them earlier, and saved Zai a lot of trouble. Ah, well, what's done was done, and she passed the bandages to him anyways, pointedly ignoring his friend.

Hakota-Zai

Anaja's eyes lit up as Zai introduced the two. Not only had it been four years since she last saw Zai, he'd finally made some friends instead of enemies out in the world. She was about to open her mouth again when Loki inquired if the two had a past love life. She froze in place, with a blush almost visible even with the concealing white makeup upon it. "Uhh.... I.... Errr..." She babble, only saved by Zai.

"No. We never really got there. Anaja was just my only friend on... Er.... Back home," he said, knowing it was too late and the past which he'd tried to conceal was about to resurface. He merely accepted the bandages from Nokomi. "She had these... The whole time," he inquired to himself, but didn't speak on the matter. As long as he didn't die, he was fine with it.

"Oh.. You mean Kiyoshi Island, Hako? You haven't forgotten where you were raised, have you?" she leaped at the opportunity to bring the subject away from her feelings for Zai. Anything else she could talk about with confidence. The vagrant mercenary was preoccupied, however, dressing his wound, his shirt off-- though no hint as to when or how it'd fallen to the ground. But he only followed Nokomi's distracted gaze, staring at the bounty board.

With his shirt off, his innumerable scars- cuts and burns alike- were shown on his athletic physique. This didn't seem to bother the Kiyoshi girl as much, and she promptly moved the subject on. "So what brings y'all to Chin Village?" Since Zai and Nokomi seemed to be ignoring her, she generally aimed the question at the more attentive Loki while Hakota thanked Nokomi.

Loki

Loki wondered if Zai would be cool with telling this woman what happened. At the same time though, she wasn't a very caring or thoughtful person. But she didn't want this woman blabbing and then getting them all in trouble again so she said,

"Zai recommended it as a safe, crime free city from which we could run our new business together." Loki said with a smirk,It's Zai's idea, he can tell you all about it. She said while pointing her finger. His response would either be hilariously bad or respectable, Loki couldn't go wrong. She examined her various rings pretending she'd heard whatever Zai was about to explain a thousand times.

Hakota-Zai

Anaja listened intently to Loki, and followed her finger 'till her eyes laid once more upon the assumed unwary man. She tilted her head as Zai looked back, giving Loki a borderline menacing glare after his wound had been dressed. "Business, huh? Never thought Zai'd be the business type... Hmm. Tell me all about it, Hako," she'd exclaim, suddenly quite happy. "Does this mean you'll be staying, then?"

Zai's glare continued. This was why: Anaja's hopes were up, and it had fallen upon him to crush those hopes. But he had a faint clue on what to do.

"It was my idea to come here, yes, but Loki started raving about training flying lemurs to do tricks. I thought she was joking, until now that she's brought it up again." This got a strange glance from the Kiyoshi, her eyebrow raised moments before a wide smile crossed her visage. She Wrapped her arms about Zai, hanging from his shoulders and neck, completely ignoring his pained expressions.

"Flying Lemurs!? That'd be sooooo cute. Chin would be the perfect place for that. And you could finally settle down, Hako," she said, excited once more. Zai had failed horribly at putting the point across. And with himself hurt and unwanting to damage her mood, he only glared again at Loki with his blaming eye. He'd get her back.. Somehow.

Loki

Loki was concerned with the menacing glare Zai had given her and decided that damage control would be in her best interest. She backtracked a bit and yelled over to the overly-excited girl,

"Oh gosh, I was just ribbing you. I see now that Zai can dish it right back." Loki's face was a bit less smirky than usual, and she decided that she'd need to be a bit more honest with Anaja now, "We're actually just passing through. We're heading off tomorrow." She didn't want to fill in too many blanks, so she left the destination open for others to fill in. Zai's look worried her, and she held up both of her hands in surrender.

Nokomi

Nokomi watched as Zai dressed his wound, then went back to just taking in her surroundings. Meeting a new person wasn't really her thing, and her hand twitched while a wave of social anxiety came washing down on her. Most wouldn't know it, she didn't say much about it, but the reason everyone thought she hated people so much is just because she couldn't handle being around people very well. Especially ones as perky and noisy as Anaja.

She started zoning out, thinking of her family again. What was with her? Everything was suddenly so tense and gloomy to her, when a few hours ago she was perfectly fine. She started wandering away from the group, not even paying attention to what she was doing, just feeling the need to get moving.

Anaja shrieked something about flying lemurs, and Loki was suddenly backtracking what she'd just said, but she really heard all of this as though it were far away. The fact that she couldn't even focus on the conversation was worrying her, but at the same time, she felt disconnected to the worrying. She just decided to follow the strange road her thoughts were taking her, even though she was detached from her thoughts as well.

She continued wandering, heading down the road, not paying attention to anything around her. It was such a strange sensation to not feel anything; no anger, sorrow, no inclination to kill or flee. She smiled to herself slightly, feeling uncharacteristically carefree and lazy.

Hakota-Zai

Zai's glare diminished-fading to a forgiving, yet warnful glance- while Anaja, though upset, seemed to get over it quickly. "Aww... So no lemurs.. And no Zai?... Ah well, at least you're back for now. How long are you staying," she asked, hugging Zai more delicately now, speaking in a soft tone. Zai seemed to ignore the obvious signs of the girls affection for her, how she constantly looked to him, and so quickly tried to incite physical contact. It wasn't obvious wether this was intentional ignorance or not on Zai's part, however.

"Once I've healed, we'll likely be moving on. Headed north or whatnot," he said, promptly returning her hug a mere moment before shifting from her embrace, noticing they were now short one member.

"Err... Loki... Where's Nokomi gone off to?" Zai honestly hadn't noticed in light of his fatigued, pained body and mind.

Loki

"Uhh..." Loki looked around, noticing Nokomi wandering down the street. One of her eyebrows went up in skepticism. "She's uhh...walking over there..." Loki found the information odd and intriguing. She loved it when people had something off about them. Maybe Nokomi had a disease of some sort. It could be anything: short-term memory loss, a stroke, alzheimers; the possibilities were fun and exciting. She always loved filling her life with interesting people. Either that or Nokomi simply zoned off, forgot herself, and walked down the road. But that was boring. Loki floated over to her, and flew above her, wondering if she'd notice her presence. She alighted on her head, slowly added more and more weight. She'd notice eventually.

Nokomi

Noko stopped wandering, as there was a pressure atop her head that was slowly increasing. She looked up as best as she could, only to find Loki there. "Er...can I help you?" She said, slowly coming back down to earth. The fact that she had someone on top of her head was both amusing and irritating, and she decided to go with the more negative of the two emotions, as that was the way she was. "If not, can you please get the helll off my head?" She said with a light undertone of venom in her voice.

Hakota-Zai

Zai watched Loki fly off, shifting to jog in that direct, but ended up stumbling and limping there instead.

"Hey! Wait for me" Anaja exclaimed, running after Zai and Loki.

Zai caught up as Nokomi's anger flared, and Loki was... Standing on her head. It was quite funny, honestly, and thew Kiyoshi girl was giggling at the notion. Perhaps even Zai would manage a grin if a thin bit of cloth hadn't been all that was confining his blood to his body.

Loki

Loki did a rather sweet backflip off Nokomi's head and landed with a grin. She then pretended to be very concerned and inquired, "Why are you wandering off?" she kept up her joking sternness and touted, "We're a family now. We must stick together..." Loki broke on the last part and gave a slight silent laugh that was complemented with a smirk of the lip. She looked back at Zai to see his reaction and shouted, "My God Zai! You look horrible, why haven't we taken you to a doctor yet!?" as if she wasn't part of problem. "Guess I have to play mom here. Let's ask someone for directions,"

Loki found a rather unintimidating merchant in the corner of her eye and hopped over there with much style and grace. She landed in front of the stall and leaned onto it with her elbow on the varnished wood.

"Hello sir. You see my friend..." she pointed over to Zai, "He is..." she began to shed fake tears, "Oh God! He's dying! Please! You have to help us! Oh! I don't know what I'll do!" Loki threw her head down on the stall with as much drama as was believable and shook her shoulders to give the effect of crying when she was really laughing to herself. She pretended to put herself together a bit.

"Well uhh... the merchant walked around his stall and put a hand on one of Loki's shoulders, There are few of healers in this town. There's one right over there. See that little home? There's one there, I've heard the healer is tender and nice. Go ahead now, your friend doesn't look that bad off quite yet." He gave Loki a small push in the right direction.

Loki walked back to the group and said, "There is a healer right there. Let's go." Loki began walking to the home which was about two houses down.

Nokomi

Noko gave Loki a crazy stare as she first called their silly group of thieves a family, and then her jaw practically dropped as Loki's overly dramatic performance unraveled. She's crazy, she thought to herself, and shook her head in embarrassment at being seen with her.

Once finding out where a healer was, Loki began to lead the group to the small apothecary that the merchant had pointed out. Noko looked over to Zai and his perky friend, then shrugged and followed Loki, not really knowing why she was still with these people. She obviously wasn't like any of them, and with the new addition of Anaja, she was only feeling more and more anxious to be gone.

Hakota-Zai

Hakota looked to his old friend. Her personality was a complete contrast to his own, and such made him uncomfortable in his own damaged skin.

"Anaja... Shouldn't you be off on duties, or something," he asked, noting the shallow height of the sun, shielding his eyes from it. He knew the girl's presence contrasted to the three nefarious individuals, but Loki who acted proud as if she took this woman's presence as a challenge. "Wait, is she," Zai thought to himself, quickly shaking the spontaneous notion so as to not degrade what opinion he did have of the bombastic, prideful, and outgoing airbender.

"Huh?... Oh," the slight changes between upbeat, then disappointment to a convincing fear was very unotable, leaving only the keenest eye to that she had understood Zai's true intentions. "My officers would KILL me if they knew I was so preoccupied with visitors! I have to go, Hako, but you and your friends should stay tonight! My threat," she exclaimed, hugging Zai with genuine intimacy before running off in some odd direction. From behind, the solemn expression she held was not visible.

Zai seemed relieved at her absence, and frowned in displeasure beneath the cloth that concealed his familiarity from the rest of the village... No helping it now, though, even just seeing him with Anaja would have revealed him to the entire village within the hour.

But other matters found themselves on Zai's mind, and he noticed Nokomi's behavior was downright depressing since they'd arrived. He laid a hand upon her shoulder weakly, with a touch ever strangely featherlike, yet stopping her in route to the healer. His wound could wait for now; it only weakened him. But wounds upon the mind oft did not scar, but bleed endlessly. And Nokomi had even reacted poorly to Loki's thought of the three being as a family.

"I wouldn't go so far to say we're family... But we're people, and you, of all people hee, seem to have something on mind," he stated, doing his best not to let his weary state effect his speech. He gave a glance to Loki, hoping to transmit to her something was bothering the girl. He may not be the most favorable of people, but he knew worry or similar when he saw it.

Mood:Sympathetic.
Condition:Weary and wounded, but well.

Nokomi

She stopped walking as Zai's hand stopped her, his touch fairly light. She considered breaking his arm, but decided against it, as he was already injured. She even thought a nice flip onto his back would be good, but she simply considered using the weapon most often used--her tongue.

"I'm fine. If I had something on my mind that I felt needed sharing, I would've said so," she stated cruelly before shrugging his hand off. "Let's just get you to the healer's..." she mumbled as an after thought, to take the edge off of how she'd reacted. She gave him a small smile, the corners of her mouth just barely pulling up, realizing that he only said what he'd said because he was concerned for her. No one had done that in a long while.

Three cloaked figures stood quite some distance away from the group that had just entered Chin village. None knew of their identities or reasoning for being there except the three themselves, and for the time being that would be how it continued. The orders from upstairs were fairly clear: to retrieve a certain individual from that group and bring them to the Fire Nation for "reassignment". Her skills had been made waves throughout the upper brass of the Fire Nation militia and she was seen as an asset that could no longer be looked over, and though any number of lower ranking officials could have been given the task a certain General requested to perform the task himself. This man was none other than Tensei, who fresh off the debacle at the Western Air Temple was now back in the thick of things, but on a much stealthier scale.

Two of his best men were brought along should things go array, though Tensei would have much rather gone about the mission solo. This was much more than retrieving a simple target, no, family was now involved. The lone sister he had alive was now in shouting distance from the man, but the chances of a loving reunion were slim. Tensei had abandoned her after the death of their youngest sibling for a more structured life in the Fire Nation some years ago, and up until this point had not heard anything about his lone surviving family member; often thought to have died at some point. But now she stood before him, a simple target for the Fire Nation yet so much more for the General.

"Keep your distance and disperse a bit, but stay vigilant to the targets location." Tensei instructed to the two following him. Running up on the group while hooded would have done little more than provoke the trio, and that was not the object of this mission. Tensei would have his audience with the target... his sister, in due time. For now the group would wait, splitting off to browse around the market in order to deflect attention.

Loki

The group had arrived at the healer, and Loki opened the door swiftly. She didn't see anyone immediately, so she shouted into the home, "Hey! We got an injured guy here!" Loki heard some sounds upstairs and watched as a middle aged man walked down the stairs. He wore boring, classic earth kingdom uniform and had glasses. His hair was graying but speckles of black were lost in the old hair. Wrinkles were beginning to take over his features, and his slight stoop told of a man approaching his later years. He went a bit slower than Loki would have liked. She tapped her foot impatiently. When the man arrived at the doorstep, Loki pushed Zai forward and said, "Can you fix him?" she noticed the man staring at Zai's face and reprimanded him quickly. "Not that, his leg." she said with a point.

Hakota-Zai

His hand shrugged off, and his worries shot back at him, Zai merely raised a hand in mock surrender. Though Nokomi seemed to manage was seemed to be a forced smile, suggesting they mere move on. Hakota nodded and returned what he could of a smile in turn.

Loki managed her way into the healer's place, Zai hesitated a moment to follow. Something brushed the edge of his mind. Something bothersome and curious. Perhaps if he had more blood in his veins, he could think properly as to what it could be. For now, it remained unquestioned as Loki shoved him into the building. The audacity of the girl didn't bother him so much with just his wound on his mind.

He stumbled into the building, grasping his side as the wound began to bleed through the cloth that'd held well so far. The older man looked to the mercenary's face, not pondering to cure it. He had tried several times afore to no avail. "Hmmm.... Getting yourself into trouble as usual, Kid," the man said with a sigh, nodding to Loki's question, but returning his gaze to match Zai's.

Hakota shrugged painfully, looking to the two others with a glance. "Well... I think trouble oft finds me first," he replied promptly.
