Pan Empty
PostSubject: Pan   Pan EmptyMon Jan 07, 2013 5:48 pm

Full Name: Pan Yaofeng
Gender: Nonbinary
Age: 22 Years
Element: Air
Birthplace: Western Air Island
Position: Owner of Yaofeng Prank Emporium
Training: Intermediate Airbender; Intermediate Martial Artist; Intermediate Swordsperson

Personality:

Although technically an adult, Pan is childish to such a degree that they are often mistaken for an unruly teenager. They are a prankster as well as a joker, and one can often find them laughing and smiling over a successful prank or a well-told joke. Never one to be serious, Pan can find something funny in almost anything and occasionally cracks jokes at inappropriate times. They try their best to never hurt anyone’s feelings but they do occasionally slip up and do not always realize when they do so. If Pan is able to see that their words or actions caused pain, they will apologize profusely. Because of Pan’s immature nature, children are drawn to them and they are unsurprisingly good with them. Pan has no desire to settle down and have a family of their own, but they are happy to join the neighborhood children in their games, tell them fantastic stories, and give them rides around the clouds with their air glider.

Abilities:

Pan has never been a fighter, but they did grow up in the Western Air Temple where the nuns trained them in the skill of martial arts from a very young age. They have since forgotten most of the more advanced techniques but are still an adequate opponent in hand-to-hand combat. Once the nuns decided that Pan was ready, they also began their education in the art of bending. Pan excelled in airbending; due to their light and happy nature, Pan would have quickly become a master if they had stayed at the temple long enough to complete their training. They own an air nomad glider and are actually very skilled at flying with it but rarely incorporate it into their fighting. After moving to the Fire Nation Capital, Pan acquired a sword and decided it would be fun to learn how to fight with it. They took sword-fighting lessons to learn the basics but quit going to them after they got bored.

Appearance:

Image

Height: 5’ 6”
Weight: 140 lbs.
Eyes: Blue
Hair: Blonde
Skin: Pale

Pan is not a tall person, standing at only five and a half feet, but they do have proportionally long limbs with small, wiry muscles. Their body is relatively pale, slender, and generally delicate-looking although they are not weak. Their facial features are rounded cutely, especially their cheekbones. Pan’s lips are full and always curved into a joyous smile or good-natured smirk. A small, straight nose divides their face into two perfectly symmetrical halves. The first things that most people notice about Pan are their large, sky-blue eyes. Pan's eyes are often wide and round, filled with laughter, and framed with thick, dark eyelashes that – when coupled with their trademark secretive smirk – give them a mischievous appearance. Pan likes to wear colorful clothing, often sporting pinks and yellows and oranges. Their sense of style is outlandish enough to merit a few stares, but Pan enjoys the attention. The airbender is always clean and well groomed, as they take very good care of themself.

History:

Pan was born in a small farming village on the Western Air Nomad Island to an airbending mother, Quinya Yaofeng, and a firebending father, Kinji Yaofeng. The couple had met in the Fire Nation Capital when Quinya was on vacation. They immediately fell in love, got married, and moved to Quinya’s birthplace, where Pan was eventually born as well. As soon as Pan showed signs of airbending – at around four years old – they were sent to be educated at the Western Air Temple and be cared for by the nuns that lived there. Another four years after Pan was sent away from home, Quinya and Kinji had a firebending daughter named Kiara Yaofeng, but Pan never got the chance to meet her because they never went back to visit their family.

At the air temple, it was immediately evident that Pan was not serious about learning anything that the nuns at the temple tried to teach them. They would sit through classes and do as they were told, but they were always itching to go outside and run around, happy and free. Although the students of the Western Air Temple were mostly girls – since boys were usually sent to the Northern or Southern Air Temples – there were enough boys to create a small group of closely-knit friends. Pan never felt like they identified as either so they would often end up trying to vacillate between the groups and get rejected at every turn. Pan was always the wild one; the other children were all mostly much more serious about their studies, often telling Pan flat out to get lost if they were being especially annoying.

Although the realization that they had no friends saddened them at first, instead of becoming bitter, Pan did all they could to entertain themself, pulling pranks of all sorts on the nuns and the other students alike. Because of the light-hearted nature of all of Pan’s pranks, they hardly ever got into trouble for them. On the rare occasions that Pan went a little too far and did get into trouble, the nuns went easy on them because they were so fond of them and knew that they were a lonely child. No one tried to stop Pan from leaving the temple when they turned eighteen and decided that they could make a better life for themself in the Fire Nation.

Knowing that they would not be missed, Pan gathered their few belongings and set off for the Fire Nation Capital, not bothering to stop by their birthplace to see how their family was faring. Once they arrived in the huge city, they worked as a street performer among other things until they raised enough money to buy their own shop where they sell an assortment of prank-related items, ‘magic’ supplies, and other entertaining things. Pan still doesn't have very many friends their own age, but the children that visit their store or live around it adore them, and that gives them purpose. At one point, a small flying bunny-squirrel became attached to Pan and now can often be found hanging around their store. Pan never gave the creature a name, afraid that one day it will get bored of them and leave.

Sample RP:

Pan cracked open their eyes, and immediately regretted their decision, squinting them back shut. A ray of bright morning sunshine had sneaked its way past a crack in the curtains of their window and slashed Pan right across their face. Turning around by rolling over on their bed, Pan reopened their eyes to see the darker, unimpressed eyes of their bunny-squirrel staring back at them. The creature was perched at the edge of their bed, probably awaiting its daily scratch behind the ears. Now that Pan thought about it, it was probably the bunny-squirrel that had come in through their window and cracked the curtains. Groaning, Pan sat up and reached a hand out toward the animal, giving it a rough pat on the head. The flying bunny-squirrel puffed out its chest, seeming to be very proud of itself, and scurried out of Pan’s bedroom the way it came in. While jumping from the second-story window of a building would mean broken bones for most non-winged creatures, the flaps of skin between the flying bunny-squirrel’s limbs caught it on its descent.

Pan rolled their eyes and slid out of bed, throwing on a few layers of brightly colored clothing on their way out of their bedroom and into the small kitchen of their apartment. There, Pan brewed themself some tea and began munching on an apple tiredly. Today was Saturday, which was their shop’s busiest day, of course. The children were out of school and free to roam around as they pleased. How they all ended up at Pan’s shop was anyone’s guess when there were so many other things that they could – or should – be doing. More than once, exasperated parents had come into the shop complaining that Pan was rubbing off on the children. Pan never really knew how to respond so they often just shrugged the comments off, telling the parents that the children were the parent's responsibility – not theirs. Then the parents would usually leave them alone, sometimes dragging their children away by the arms. It always hurt Pan to see young spirits crushed in that way, but there were always more children to replace them. Sighing, Pan tidied up their already spotless apartment, and then skipped down the stairway that led to their joke shop, a bright smile on their face.

Well, my eyes can certainly see nothing wrong with it, everything checks out. As such, i'll approve. Sadly I don't have a fancy seal of approval, but just you wait. -_-

Well my lovely Kina, I also approve. Pan seems like a wonderful character--and I'd love to do an RP or two with him. :3

*pats Dai's head* No worries. I stole mine from Kiwa. Razz [And I hardly ever whip it out.]

This is a very interesting character. I like him. [/approved]

This is also your final approval needed. I'd whip out the Zulera one, but I am not Zulera for whatever reason, so yeah. :B

Knock yourself out.
