Wanderer (Open)

Rotuki knew it would be hard, but she didn't know it would be this hard. But she was determined to keep her mood up since she had finally made it to Ba Sing Se. She sighed and told herself that she would have to skip dinner tonight, though she knew her problem wouldn't go away by ignoring it. She had just enough money to last her the journey to Ba Sing Se and seemed to have run out.

As she was walking along the street thinking about her options as to where to spend the night, she spied a familiar face. There was a man sitting on a chair outside a house looking extremely relaxed. She had seen him when she had walked down the same street an hour or two earlier as she headed into the market.

"Doesn't he have something to do?" She asked herself. "It seems like everyone has chores to be done or errands to run around here." Out of dissapointment and boredom, she raised a hand and waved to the stranger. Hoping for the best and acting on a chance, she walked a bit closer to the man and asked,

"Hello, Mister. I was wondering if you had a couple silver pieces to spare?"

"Hi, Draco. My name is Rotuki," Rotuki looked at the man in shock as he handed her a small pouch of coins. "Thank you so much!" She bowed and stood up again, eyeing the pouch of coins. With a sigh, she opened the purse and removed three silver pieces and handed the bag back to Draco.

"I appreciate your generosity, but I just need enough money for dinner. I have taveled here from the Fire Nation Capitol on the little money I had hoping to find a job here, but I wasn't expecting Ba Sing Se to have such a big population!" She stopped herself. "I'm sorry, I blabber sometimes." An idea popped into Rotuki's head.

"Hey, do you need any chores done or oddjobs to be taken care of. I'd be happy to do them!" The question was appropriate to ask to any other stranger but Draco. He seemed too carefree and relaxed. Chances are that he didn't have anything for Rotuki to do, or else he would be doing it himself like the rest of the busy city.

Rotuki chuckled. "This is the upper ring of Ba Sing Se, everyone is either royalty or they might as well be with the amount of money they have. They are handed everything on a silver platter and aren't grateful for anything so they feel no need to stop and enjoy the view." The girl then turned back to the busy streets to take a look at the crowds rushing around.

"I couldn't help but notice that you seem to be the only person without some urgent errands to run. And if you're wondering why it's so busy here, surely you can't be from here. Not to be nosy, but where are you from?" Rotuki figured that Draco wasn't from Ba Sing Se; he didn't look native to the Earth Benders at all.

Rotuki nodded. "Ah, I do recall you mentioning that. I've always wanted to visit the Northern Air Temple. As for the Fire Nation Capital, it is a wonderful city, much like Ba Sing Se, actually. There is a harbor, the Royal Plaza, and Caldera City. It's architecture is beautiful and is worth a visit!" Rotuki loved her home very much. Fourteen years of her life were spent there and many happy, as well as sad, memories took place there.

"Since you are a traveler, where have you gone? And what were these places like?" She asked Draco with wide eyes. Rotuki was hungry for adventure and longed to travel as Draco does. Ba Sing Se was just the first stop on her world tour.

Rotuki was amazed at the places Draco has been, she knew vaugley what these places were like but had always wanted to visit them in person. "That sounds amazing!" She said and her mind wandered to imaginary adventures she hoped she would one day have.

"It was very nice meeting you, Draco and I would love to hear more about your travels. Would you mind sharing your journeys with me some more at, say, midday tomorrow?" Rotuki wanted to hear more about the magnificent places and amazing cities. "We could go for a walk, or get tea or something..?" She trailed off, blushing once realizing that she was getting almost too hopeful. After all, she had just met this man a few minutes earlier.

Rotuki smiled gratefully and turned and began walking away. She suddenly spun on her heel and yelled, "Thanks for the money!" But the door to the house was already closed. She was glad to have someone to talk to, she was begining to feel a little lonely after her long journey by herself. She traveled back into the market and bought herself some fish and tea and then plopped down on a bench to eat. As she brought her hand down to grab her teacup, an idea sprung into her head. Her golden ring was shining and suddenly she knew money wouldn't be a problem any longer.

Later that night, Rotuki boldly walked over to a jewelry vendor and held out the ring. "How much can I get for this?" The vendor took a long look at it and twirled it around in his fingers a couple times. The vendor's offer was 180 silver peices; a deal Rotuki wouldn't never pass up.

After making her bargain, she headed back to her hotel in the lower ring where she was currently residing. As soon as Rotuki lay down, she was asleep dreaming of new places and discoverery.

Rotuki awoke to the sound of yelling voices through the wall. The pair across the hall were always arguing. With a grunt, Rotuki slid out of bed, stretched, and threw on her day clothes which consisted of a red tanktop and brown pants. She didn't care much for fashion.

The girl then made her way into the market and bought some breakfast. She knew she had some time to kill before meeting up with Draco so she decided to visit the park. She sat herself at one of the many benches inside the large, green park and began eating. She couldn't help but wonder where her journey would take her next. She had always wanted to visit the Water Tribes, but she also wanted to see the Western Air Temple. In order to do all this, she needed money. And 180 silver peices could last her for now, but wouldn't get her very far. She would need to get a job.

Rotuki had finished her breakfast when she looked into the sky and concluded that it was almost noon. She stood up and began walking to where Draco was staying. She was very excited to hear about his adventures around the world.

When she spotted him lounging in the chair next to the door, as he was the day before, she waved and greeted him. "Hi, Draco. How are you?"
