Misadventures!- Big Trouble In Little Ba Sing Se [Open]

It was hot.

It was so hot.

Hun-Hun leaned against the rotten-wood of an old building and watched the ring of smoke billow around her. The nights had been unusually hot this time in the impenetrable city and the humidity was almost unbearable. Nevertheless she kept herself cool by bending chilled air around her, ever watchful of her surroundings. Despite the close proximity and sweltering heat Ba Sing Se was always one of her favorite cities....

Even if it was pretty seedy.

And dangerous.

But Hun-Hun lived on dangerous, for her it was pretty normal. Being shrouded in darkness while on the run from potential death had become routine for her. Maybe it was because she found herself in constant trouble? She shook her head at the thought, 'Or trouble keeps finding me. To think I was only here to visit some friends and tie up some loose ends. And....maybe see the Zoo....'


"Unfortunately," She mused through her guise of smoke and mirrors, "Hun-Hun's not here to play today, she's on official business."

In one huge breath she blew the "cloak" from around her and warily stepped out into the crowded streets. The Lower Ring was so condensed with residents and "patrons" that their sweat would leave stains on her white cloak. Hun-Hun frowned;'Gonna have to wash this later.' The feeling was unpleasant, but she couldn't afford to be distracted now.

"Safety first!"

Hun-Hun weaved through the throngs of people and darted around another bend until she came to another populated street. Once she was a safe distance away she tied her full bison-skin coin-pouch firmly around her pant's sash and whipped out her glider staff,wings unfolded. Hun-Hun reached into her sash and pulled out 2 tiny white cloth balls and positioned herself further into the shadows.

"Alright Hun, looks like ya lost 'em. One blast and then we're off to the Zoo-"

Crack!

Hun-Hun pivoted on her feet and brandished the spear end of her staff,"Who's there?"

The Airbender lowered her spear a few inches and narrowed her eyes. Though the sun had long since set she was able to make out a few details of the stranger from the faint glow of the street lamps in the city. Judging from the tone of voice, HunHun determined that the stranger was a female. More importantly, based on her slight vantage point she roughly guessed that the girl was short.

Well shorter than her.

HunHun wrinkled her nose and adjusted her spear-glider,snapping the wings open in case she needed to whip a sharp blast. Through a tiny breeze the gesture created she blinked and "tasted" the after-scent.

'Cinnamon spice?

..........Fire Nation.'

The scent was barely noticeable, but it was there nonetheless. Cinnamon spice was a common fragrance found only in the Fire Nation, Caldera city specifically...or in the possession of wealthy Earth Kingdom folk. HunHun loved Cinnamon Spice, it reminded her of the summer solstice festivals the nomads attended when she was a child.



She breathed a sigh of relief, "Oh, you're just one of the fire folk. Which is great because I suspect you aren't trying to kill me."

HunHun twirled her staff and popped the wings shut in one swift motion. She leaned against the walls of building and smiled brightly at the girl before running a hand through her hair.

"Sorry about.....almost skewering you with the spear. Safety precautions and all that...?"She trailed off and smiled sheepishly, her face turning a faint shade of pink.

HunHun glanced around the littered streets and deftly noted that the crowds were becoming sparse, and that was odd. Absentmindedly she ghosted her fingers over the bison whistle on her wrist and regarded the other girl carefully.

"So!" She piped, eyes shining, "In town to see the Zoo or what?"

As if her mood couldn't be lifted any higher, her eyes brightened and her lips quirked up in a smile. So the girl was lost, eh? HunHun rested her staff against her shoulder and ducked her head out into the street lamps. She leaned on the balls of her feet and hopped backwards a little into the street light.

HunHun inclined her head, "I know what you mean. I can't tell you how many times I got lost in this stupid city when I first started coming here." She traced her fingers over the bison whistle again and narrowed her eyes down at the end of the street.

Were those shadows?

The muscles in her shoulder blades itched and she resisted the urge to frown. The whistle clinked against her palm and she thought back to her companion. 'Mei-Mei's alright; probably somewhere in the farmlands eating up whatever's been left behind from the harvest. In the meantime, gotta ditch these rockmites. I swear to La I feel like we're being watched or something.' HunHun tilted her head sideways and gave rapt attention to the summer breeze. No sounds, no dice. She frowned, 'What the Tui? I know I'm not crazy, did I see those shadows or not?'

While the world was still regaining it's balance from Firelord Ozai's reign, some things were still out of control. The security force in the impenetrable city had been straightened by the Earth Queen but, there were still those vigilantes that went against the goad. These few soldiers of earth would be the current knots and, HunHun was on the radar for "disturbing the peace".

She needed to diffuse this situation fast before it got uglier. As far as she was concerned another battle was not necessary, lest she attract the real authorities. HunHun needed to make like a tree and leaf. Fast.

"Got any place in mind? I doubt you'd want to set up in this shoddy joint." HunHun smirked and looked up above them, "I can take you to the middle ring. They're Inns are better, and the food's delicious."

Hun-Hun checked their surroundings through her peripheral and gripped her glider staff. Once she was close enough to the girl she popped her glider open with a woosh! and gripped the beams.

"You got that right," HunHun beamed, "And what better way to do it than glider style!" She ducked her head in the alley one last time before nodding to the girl.

"Okay, I know this is gonna' sound crazy but I need you to kind of like, wrap your arms around really tight and don't look down, kay?"

She waited for her to secure her hold around her and, once she was sure her grip was tight enough blasted a gust of wind launching them in the air. The lamp-posts shrunk in size the higher she flew, and she had to steer in odd angles to avoid crashing into buildings.

All in all whooping and laughing at the same time.

Hun-Hun zoomed behind another building and shot up a tunnel that emptied directly into the streets of the middle ring. She burst from the tunnel and landed on the ground with a soft plop. She snapped her glider shut and ignored the gaping mouths of on-lookers, grinning wildly.

"I mean it just gets better every time!"

She rounded on the girl and rubbed the back of her neck nervously, "Hope I didn't give you a heart attack! Heh, but it's the fastest way here." Just then her stomach growled ferociously.

"Er....you didn't hear that."
