Kei

There was a loud slap that echoed through the room of Kei's quiet apartment. It was the sound of a hand, impacting wood. In between the hand and the wood was the smashed remains of a Bug, which had been buzzing around seconds before.

Kei lifted his hand and looked at his palm. Yea, the crushed corpse of the bug was definitely gross and did not belong in his hand. He wiped the dead bugs remains off onto the side of the couch.

Kei sighed to himself. He thought coming to the young and fresh Zulera city would mean more available jobs, people needing his help. Of course, no one ever needed the skills of a Jack-Of-All-Trades. Why? He didn't know. In fact, all he knew was that his pockets remained empty. A truly terrible feeling.

He wasn't sure if his lack of business was the result of the gangs that had recently rose up in Zulera City. He wasn't entirely sure what the gangs were about, but he did know that the gangs weren't some second rate, backyardiggans shenanigans. These several gangs were world class, powerful, and something to be feared. Kei sighed once again. Seriously, how did this happen in a city meant to promote peace and such? How can anyone raise a kid in these times?

Well, whatever, it's not my problem.Kei thought to himself. Perhaps he would go try the new Casino later with the remaining money he had. Perhaps finally he would hit the jackpot. Perhaps he would no longer be broke, but instead rich. Like the Crime Lords recently rose to power in the city.

Tamiyo Mawas

From how Tamiyo understood it, her newest tenant was apparently something different from the others. As some of her subordinates had rushed to tell her, the man was a friend of the Avatar’s, and piloted an airship that had apparently been repaired by her. Another important fact was that he was looking for work, which Tamiyo was always happy to hear.

It was due to this fact that she found herself outside of his apartment, ready to knock on his door. The apartment certainly couldn’t be considered nice, but it was a roof over his head and came at a very competitive price. Drawing her arm back, she knocked loudly on the door twice before taking a half-step back to wait for it to open.

Kei

Kei got up off of the coach as he heard the knock, sighing. He knew who it probably was.
"Oi!" Kei called out towards the door as he approached it, "I already told you punk kids that I don't want to convert to your religion. I'm contempt with what I have!"

Kei opened the door. It was not the punk kids from before. In fact, it wasn't even the usual person who came to collect his rent. It was a woman, a really attractive one at that. With a definite bombshell figure.
Kei had to stop and think back for a moment. He didn't recall ever being associated with her before. Nor did he recall having a night he got too drunk and couldn't remember a thing the day after, so he was certain that this woman wasn't one of those kinds of women you meet.

Then it crossed him. The thing he completely forgot existed because of all the time he had went without one. A customer.

Kei almost choked upon realization. He was suddenly filled with joy and the day was already beginning to look brighter.

"Hey," Kei said quickly and too excitedly began spouting off a lot of self-advertisement to make himself look better, "The name's Kei, Jack-Of-All-Trades. You got the money, I'll do it- my catch phrase and code I live by (Total Lie). My services are great. And trustworthy. Very trustworthy (Total Lie). I can get whatever you need done much better than some second rate mercenary. Not to mention I'm great with kids (Total Lie). And pets. Pets are my favorite (Total Lie). I've done jobs of a wide variety and have tons of experience. Not to mention I've become somewhat of a legend in the Jack-Of-All-Trades community (Total Lie). I don't know if you heard the stories, but it was actually me that stopped the second great rat infestation of the Fire Nation (Total Lie).

Kei had to stop to take a breath. This also calmed him down a bit.
"So," Kei said, "What exactly did you need?"

The woman snorted slightly as the man before her broke into what appeared to be a well-rehearsed speech. Fortunately for her, she already knew who he was, and didn’t need convincing from the less-than perfect advertisement of himself.

Instead, she simply placed a hand on his chest and pushed him backwards slightly before walking into the apartment. The inside was no better than the outside. It was sparsely decorated and certainly looked in need of a good clean – or maybe just demolishment, which was very strange considering it was built new. Once she was inside, she turned to look at Kei before motioning for him to close the door.

”I already know who are Mr. Heiwajima, and I know exactly what your particular skillset it. Why else would I let you rent such a… Dashing apartment?” she glanced around, a smirk growing on her face. ”I also know that you need some money – and not least because you need to move out of this place. In fact, I have a very nice place that is far more extravagant than this that has just come back onto the market. And I’d be willing to make a deal for an employee of mine…”

The blonde walked over to the couch and leaned backwards against it, looking at Kei with a steely gaze. ”My organisation is always looking for capable business associates – and I’m sure a jack-of-all-trades would find something to his liking there, am I right?”

Kei

Kei didn't even try to stop the woman a she made her way into his apartment. From his experience, trying to kick such woman out of your room usually took more effort than what it was worth.

Kei didn't recognize the woman, but it seemed she owned the apartment. It surprised him, she was never usually the one who came to pick up rent. Kei commented on her sarcastic remark.
"I take offense to that. Sure it may not be the nicest apartment around, but we have fond memories together, my apartment and I."

Then she mentioned offering Kei a job which completely caught his attention.
"Well the notion of money has caught my interest, what is it that you want?"

The Jack-Of-All-Trades was leaning against the wall on the opposite of the blonde, mysterious woman. She brought up something about a business, but was pretty vague about it. Kei had a feeling he was about to get pulled into some sketchy stuff.
Eyeing her carefully, Kei casually asked, "Oh? What kind of business? I suppose you wouldn't happen to be talking about something simple like a real estate?"

”Real Estate is just one of my business, Mr Heiwajima,” she replied slowly, keeping her gaze on Kei. ”But what I need you for is a lot less legal… And a lot better pay.”

She pushed herself up from leaning against the couch and took a step over to the window. ”My empire is growing, and I need figures of strong leadership to keep it stable within. And that is why I need you. I want you to lead a few jobs that I have coming up, and, needless to say, they will be extremely well-paid.”

She glanced over her shoulder at the man. ”That is, of course, if you’re not afraid of danger.”

"Illegal and Immoral are two different things. As long as you don't see them as them as the same, I have no worries with breaking a law or two." Kei replied.
It was true, all in all, Kei was a decent person, didn't like killing or watching innocent be hurt. He didn't care for the law much however. Not having the best history with several of the Nations and usually tends to break a few daily. Like the separation of recycles and combustibles in the taking out the trash.

"I'm not the biggest fan of danger and I usually try to avoid it, yet I always end up caught in it somehow. So danger? I definitely have experience with it. Do I like it? Psh, no." Kei said

He continued, "Of course, If you want me to run head first into it, assuming the pay is good, I'll do it. Times are tough you know? It's nearly impossible to make a living doing what you like know?"

”Right you are, Mr. Heiwajima,” she said with a smile. ”As for running headfirst into danger, I think that can be somewhat avoided – As much as danger can be avoided at all in this city, that is. Your work will be simple, maybe a few collection jobs here and there, and the pay will be suitable for what you accomplish.”

She walked over to the man, her hand slipping into the pocket of her jacket. She pulled out a gold coin and held it out for him to take. ”I’ll tell you more once you accept my offer – if you choose to, that is.”

Kei

Kei had no reason to decline this offer. In fact, it would absolutely make no sense for him to not accept the offer. He needed money. He had no money. The job offered money. It was only sensible to accept the money.

Accepting the gold, Kei began to twirl the coin in one hand between his fingers.
"Seems easy enough. I'll accept."

”Excellent,” she said, smiling at the man. ”Your first job is simple – I just need you to pick up some money from a few businesses around the city. I’ll send a few of my boys along with you to be sure, but use them as you see fit.”

She clicked her fingers and the door swung open, revealing two men in black suits. One of them held a file, and he stepped forward and gave it to Tam. She in turn handed it to Kei. ”The details of the shops are in here – none of them should give you any hassle. If you manage to succeed, then come and see me; the boys know the way.”

At that she turned and took a few steps towards the door before pausing and leaning on the doorframe, glancing back in case Kei had any comments.

Kei

The men in suits who came in behind the woman wore suits, but they definately did not give off the appearance of "Business Casual". They were large and intimidating, people who you would not one to get on the wrong side of.
Kei frowned. He didn't want to work with these thugs. They weren't the kind of people you'd invite to your tenth birthday party. They looked like the kind of people who would take your lunch money at school the very next day.

Kei took the file and opened it. In it were a list of names, businesses and addresses. Some Kei recognized, but most of them he did not. The job appeared easy enough, Kei didn't recognize any large and powerful names on the list. If these people tried to cause him trouble, it shouldn't be too difficult to deal with them.

Closing the file, Kei began to head out of the door of his apartment. His wooden katana was sitting by the entrance and Kei grabbed it on his way out, tucking the wooden blade into his belt. Kei didn't acknowledge the two suited men on his way out and assumed they would follow him.

On his way out, Kei spoke to the woman, "Alright, I'll finish this job up quickly. I'll expect my pay and feast for when I return."

With that said, Kei left the building.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was as she had said, the job was easy. Kei's targets payed up what they owed and none of them resisted. Kei had a feeling however that the compliance of those he collected the tax from didn't resist because of the suited men the woman sent with him. It seemed that the suited thugs intimidated them far more then it they should have. No doubt these towns people had met with the suited men before.

Kei mostly kept to himself during this job, not wanting to talk with the suited men. Only on two occasions did he talk with them. One of the occasion was after the jobs completion on where Kei was to go to meet the woman. The second was when Kei was trying to find out who this woman was. Tamiyo, that was what he had learned. Though other than her being the leader of some organization and her name, the two suited men revealed nothing else to Kei, thus Tamiyo was still a mystery.

Perhaps the item that was bothering Kei the most however, was why Tamiyo had recruited Kei to do this job. It was simple. The fact is, Kei knew he really didn't have to be there for this job. The two suited men could have handled it on their own. Kei's prescence was basically an extra, unneeded pair of hands that one would still have to pay for. He didn't understand why the "All-Powerful" Tamiyo wanted his help.

Anyhow, Kei didn't let this thought scare him and followed the suited men back to a neighborhood of warehouses. This area was on the outskirts of Zulera City and just outside of the reaches of the Vigilantes who normally patrol Zulera City. Despite the whole city still being fairly new, the Warehouses looked mostly abandoned.

Tamiyo's men led Kei into one of the warehouses and to Tamiyo herself.
"The job's done and there were no difficulties. I can't remember the last time a job was so easy." Kei told her, giving one of the suited men the bag of money that he had collected and the file Tamiyo had given him earlier.

"Don't get me wrong," Kei started, "I appreciate the simplicity of this job, but I have to ask, why me? It was clear to me during this job that I wasn't really needed. Your men could have handled it just as well even if I wasn't there. I'm sure you have a different motive to why you wanted me to do this job? Don't tell me it's because you're after my love. I can't be won over that easily."

Mood: Casual
Condition: Fine

[OOC: I hope you don't mind me changing the setting like this. I assumed you didn't want to go through the entire details of the job and was fine if I skipped to the next part with Tamiyo. If you have any problems, let me know and I'll change it. Also sorry for the late reply.]

Tamiyo Mawas

When the woman heard her warehouse door open, she glanced up from her desk. Kei walked in, as well as the two men that she had sent with him – a good sign. The man gave the moneybag to one of her suits before beginning to speak to Tamiyo. She could barely hide her grin as he spoke, and once he had finished she clapped her hands.

”I sent you along in case there were any… Complications.” she said, smiling broadly. ”The businesses that you visited were in fact under the protection of several other crime lords in the city – they didn’t owe me a thing. But, now that they know that the others cannot protect them, I can foresee a healthy profit.”

She clicked her fingers and a man came out of a door behind her holding a tray. He placed it down on the desk, revealing the contents – a glass of mojito and a file. Tamiyo took the glass and sipped from it, looking back up at Kei. ”I also started you off small because I didn’t trust you. At least now you have earned some of my trust. Your next job will be more interesting, I hope.”

She picked up the file and began to leaf through its contents. [color=#FFCC00]”Infiltration is the next game, Mr. Heiwajima. I’m sure you know of the other Crime Lords in the city – Salvatore Maranzano, The Scarlet Blade, Robin Miyamoto, Minato. What I need you to do is visit a few of them and see what you can find out – what you can disrupt.” She grinned again, taking another sip of her cocktail.

”I have also arranged a meeting point for you to find them – I am holding a masquerade ball in a few days, and they are sure to either make an appearance or send somebody along to represent them. I want you to use your charms to work your way in with them, and find out what you can. This one won’t be easy, but the pay will be exceptionally better,” she said, before glancing at the suited man who held the money bag. ”Give him his pay for today’s work.”

The man handed the entire moneybag to the man, which was quite a considerable amount of coin, if the size was anything to go by. Tamiyo glanced back at Kei, still smiling. ”My tailors will clothe you, but the charm will be your own. Good luck.”

Kei

"It's one thing when only one person wants a profit, its simple, straightforward." Kei replied jokingly, "However it become a whole lot more complicated when two people want profit over the same thing. Chaos, lies, betrayal, war, all of these arise from it. I hope you know what you're doing, because after all, how am I supposed to make money when you don't make any yourself? I'm not too fond of poor employers."

Kei crossed his arms as he watched Tamiyo drink from a glass one of her men handed her from behind.
Kei crossed his arms and replied jokingly in a serious tone, "Be sure to suggest my services to all your rich friends if that's the case. I always try to tell people that I really am a good guy, but they never believe and as a result I never get hired."

"Anything you want me to learn in particular? Perhaps their favorite Lord Of The Bling* character?" Kei said, "You'd be surprised at how much you can learn about a person just by learning who their favorite character is. Who knows, perhaps you can use this against them."

"I can charm people, its much easier than fighting." Kei said casually replied, "First start off the conversation by pretending to bump into them, that way it won't seem like the conversation was intentional in the first place. Continue by apologizing then pretending that you recognize the person as someone from the same high school. Continue by asking how they've been since then, maybe compliment them here and there. Just be sure to laugh at all of their crappy jokes and smile and ta-da, you two are best buds now."

Kei nearly choked when he received his pay. It was definitely way more than he was expecting. He graciously accepted the money, happy knowing that this was more than enough money to guarantee him a jackpot at the local Pachinko bar.

Once Kei had gotten over his shock of how much he had just been payed, he replied with a smile and a thumbs up, "Don't worry, I can get myself something nice to wear. After all, it's pretty shameful when a man can't dress himself."
This was actually just a diversion at the truth with the truth being that Kei didn't actually like dressing nice. It made him feel like a taco when he actually dressed up in really nice clothing. He intended to go to the party in what he normally wore. It's not like anyone would really care...

Tamiyo’s fingers moved absent-mindedly to her hair, where they began to curl it gently. ”Learn anything and everything, Kei; how they operate, where they operate, who they operate with. I want you to come out of that ball as their best friend, their main confidant. I want you to know all of their secrets,” she said, smiling and looking up at him.

When she saw him looking joyously at the money, she couldn’t help but grin herself. ”That’s nothing compared to what I’ll give you if you succeed at the ball. And I will allow you wear your own attire, but do remember to bring a mask; it is a masquerade ball, after all.”

Kei scratched his chin and said, "I can't promise as to getting very personal questions from these other gang bosses like what their fetishes are or somthing, but I guarantee I can find out something that could be useful."

Kei then crossed his arms and asked, "Why'd you have to make a formal ball with a masquerade theme? Everyone goes for the food either way. No reason to dress nicely for that."
