For Pan, it was really a piece of cake dropping every Fire Nation soldier that tried to storm her position. Seriously, the standards to enter the army must have been really low if it was this easy to defeat as many soldiers as she already had.

Any enemy who had entered her vision received an arrow to the forehead, littering the entire area around her with the bodies of Fire Nation Soldiers. S
I can easily take out the Fire Nation Army by myself at this rate, She thought confidently to herself.

On a rooftop adjacent to her, Pan saw a male figure flip his hood up.
“Hey!" He yelled out toward her, "Why don’t you leave those soldiers alone, and try hit someone a little more your speed!”

"Oh?" She called back confidently, "and just who might that be that I should instead fight?"

Pan didn't wait for an answer however, a arrow was already fired from her bow toward the man who had no doubt challenged her. Using air bending, Pan accelerated the speed of the arrow.

Sure, the guy didn't appear to be a Fire Nation Soldier, but surely the boss wouldn't complain if a civilian or two got caught in her fire.

Ryuu Takeshi

Ryuu was about to give the woman a smart ass answer, but was interrupted by her arrow flying towards him at an unnatural pace.  Ryuu immediately deduced that she was an airbender, and used a technique very similar to his.  This came as a big surprise as he had never met an airbender who used his very unorthodox style.  He was prepared however, bending the air around him; he created an aura of very low air resistance around his entire body.  This sped up his movements greatly and coupled with his lightning fast reflexes and mastery of archery, he quickly grabbed the enemy arrow in flight, holding it an inch before his face.  His eyes squinted as he looked at the razor sharp arrow head that would have hit him right between the eyes. “Getting straight to the point I see?  Usually women want to shoot me in the head AFTER the first date,” he quipped, “but you’re accurate I’ll give you that!” He continued wiping his brow.  He quickly decided not to pull off a cocky stunt like he just did with this archer again… that was a little too close for comfort.

He drew and arrow and let it loose at his opponent without manipulating its flight or speed.  In an instant he had already launched a second arrow, which sped forth at an unnatural pace thanks to some clever bending.  About half way between the two towers, the second arrow overtook the first.  Both still racing towards their mark:  The faster arrow towards her head, and the normal paced arrow towards her heart.  Ryuu hoped this little trick would be enough to catch his opponent off guard and unawares.

Pan didn't run from confrontations, but she also wasn't stupid either. She saw the other archers double arrow attack, firing them both at separate times, yet using different speeds for each so that they would both hit her at the same time. After seeing this and how he stopped her arrows, it was clear to Pan that her current opponent was an air bender, and no doubt used similar techniques to her.

She could probably dodge this first attack, but she bet that the other Air Bender would have released more arrows towards her that may eventually hit her. The fact was, she was a sitting duck up on top of the building.

"You've chosen the wrong enemy to fight if you think 'that' was accurate." She said back confidently at the man.

She lept off the side of the building farthest from the enemy Air Bender so that the building would be blocking his line of sight. As she was falling however she fired an arrow directly up into the air, parallel to the building she had just jumped off. When the arrow flew past the top of the building, Pan used air bending to curve the path of the arrow and direct it to where she saw the man standing before she jumped off the building.

Pan landed smoothly on the ground by using a blast of wind to soften her landing. At that moment, Pan saw and heard a streak of lightning roar across the side hitting one of her allied Zepplins. That was definitely not outcome of a storm, the sky was too clear for that to be logically possible. It was more than likely Fire Lord Tarek.

Pan shook her head and sighed, if it wasn't for her current enemy, she could have gone and fought with the Fire Lord himself.

Ryuu Takeshi

Ryuu was still in the air travelling between the two towers when his opponent jumped off.  He smirked at her comment and with an agile spin in the air he loosened three throwing knives from his belt and threw them towards the tower.  He then bent the air around them curving them around the tower, two to the right, one to the left, and aiming them at where he estimated his opponent to be.  Ryuu wasn’t new to any of this, he had fought in many battles and killed many people, most notably in the legendary battle of the Western Air Temple, where he and Xilingshi, along with her Tekina Kaze held off a massive Fire Nation attack.  He had earned his tattoos and was a master airbender through and through.

However, even he was prone to mistakes, and the sudden crack of thunder and flash of lightning distracted him long enough for his opponent’s clever trick to pay off.  He turned his head for but a moment, startled by the thunder which caused his ears to ring and was immediately struck in the left shoulder by his enemy’s arrow.  He landed on the roof of the tower which the female airbender had just jumped off with an ungraceful thud, and cursed under his breath as he pulled the arrow out and tossed it aside.  He was in pain, but had had injuries like this in the past; it wasn’t going to slow him down too much.  He wasn’t sure whether his own attack with the blades had worked and so he promptly resumed his assault.  He ran to the edge of the roof and with an acrobatic twist, backflipped off, aiming his bow down at his target and firing a quick flurry of three shots.

Pan was caught by suprise the throwing knives. Two of them missed her, but one of them managed to scrape her face, breaking her daydream of fighting Tarek.

"Bastard." She muttered, she was still in a fight, one that she couldn't lose.

When she saw Ryuu emerge overhead from the tower she had just lept off of and fire a flurry of three arrows in her direction, Pan decided she really needed to find some good cover. Pan fired a single normal shot toward the falling Ryuu with the full intent of keeping him distracted from air bending his current arrows toward her.

Pan didn't stick around to find out if her plan would succeed, she simply took off running toward the closest building out of the path of Ryuu's flurry of arrows. Pan rolled through one of the windows of the building and came crashing in through the glass. Ignoring the many small cuts, she quickly drew an arrow and loosened it into the direction of Ryuu as he would land on the ground, accelerating her deadly projectile with Air Bending.

Ryuu Takeshi

After Ryuu shot his flurry of arrows at his opponent, he noticed a lone arrow heading straight for him.  With an acrobatic spin he managed to dodge, but it did prevent him from bending his arrows to catch his opponent who was now running in the opposite direction.  He watched as she jumped through the window of a nearby antique shop.

“Hey! You break it…you buy it!”  He shouted as he landed on the street outside the shop in a crouched position.  He couldn’t stand idle long, however, as an arrow was racing towards him at a ridiculous speed.  He quickly swiped a hand to the side, creating a large gale force rush off air to toss the approaching arrow aside.  It was then when he realised why she ran into the shop.  It was for cover, and here he was standing out in the open.  He immediately pulled out one of his ‘special arrows’ equipped with a flash powder charge near the arrowhead.  A small piece of flint attached to his quivers opening, sparked against the arrowhead as he pulled it out, igniting the flash powder arrow’s fuse.  He launched it into the window, hoping the loud band and bright flash would buy him some time to get out of the open, and catch his enemy off guard.  He began running as soon as the arrow was launched; he needed to time it perfectly.  The arrow detonated inside the shop and a half second later, Ryuu dived in through the window, his bow drawn and ready for whatever awaited him.

Pan saw the strange looking arrow with a fuse on it and quickly jumped away from the window, thinking that the arrow was explosive or something. When the arrow exploded in a loud bang and a bright, she then realized it was actually more of a stun weapon. She managed to look away in time, so she was only partially blind upon detonation of the weapon, but the sound momentarily deafened her.

"Shit," She said out loud though couldn't hear herself. That was a cheap move.

Believing her current position was no longer safe at the moment, Pan worked her way quickly down a hall as best as she could being partially stunned and around a corner. She hid just around the corner, drew an arrow, and holstered.

There was telling where Ryuu was at the moment, whether he chased her inside the building or if he was still outside, ready to fire upon her the moment she sticks her head out. Pan decided she would wait here for the moment until her partial stunned state wears off. When it did, she would try to pinpoint Ryuu's location. If Ryuu happens to come after her in the meantime, then Pan would ambush him when he rounds the corner.

Ryuu Takeshi

Ryuu’s bow was drawn as his eyes scanned the room for the archer he was fighting, but he could not see her.  He took the moment to catch a breath; his shoulder was in quite a bit of pain after all.  She was good, very good, not like the rabble he usually was hired to fight.  The fact that she was an airbender also intrigued him.  “So you’ve probably figured out I am airbender too,” he said out loud, removing his hood.  His eyes were still scanning the room, he had to be ready for anything, “You know what this arrow means right?” He asked, “it means I have been doing this crap for a long time…why don’t you surrender now so I can take you back to Xilingshi at the Air Temple?  They could always use more people like you and I who are not afraid to do what it takes…besides…fighting firebenders is soo one hundred years ago…”

Judging from the way Ryuu's voice echoed inside the building, Pan was now certain that the other Air Bender had followed her into the building. The minor stunness had began to wear off now as well, and she listened carefully to what Ryuu said.

She was actually trying to determine his exact location in the building at the moment based on his voice. Simply charging after him may lead her into an ambush, and she was pretty sure Ryuu thought the same. If they both had the same ideas, then there would be a standoff between the two that make take quite a bit of time, time that Pan didn't have. If she knew exactly where Ryuu was hiding at the moment, then she could counter his ambush attempt.

Pan needed Ryuu to talk some more.

"Oh?" She called out and began to try and anger him, "From the way I see it, the Air Temples are a bunch of wimps, too afraid to step out of there comfort zones to help the world! That's exactly why the Fire Nation destroyed them many years ago!"

Pan continued on, "Anyways, If you think I'm on the verge of surrendering, think again. You haven't seen anything yet!"

Ryuu Takeshi

Ryuu wasn’t aware of the archer’s ploy to keep him talking; he just thought she was being talkative.  He shrugged at her comment, before nodding, “Yeah I guess they are, with their no weapons, no hair, no fighting policies...and they got the weirdest taste in robes…I mean…who wants to look like a giant tangerine?” He said, still looking around cautiously, “but they are an okay bunch, and still our people…look a few years ago and I would have probably joined you in taking out these flame brains, but things have changed, they are not the same as when they attacked our nation in the past, they don’t deserve any of this now.”

When the enemy archer refused to surrender, Ryuu knew that this was going to end with one of them being dead.  With this in mind, he thrust his hand forward, using his airbending to push over some items that were stacked on a shelf on the opposite side of the room.  Hopefully that would draw the archer out and give him a clear shot.

Pan heard the crashing of random items in on the other side of the wall down the hallway. She smirked to herself, believing she just found the location of her enemy.

Pan drew an arrow. It wasn't an ordinary arrow, the feathers on the shaft didn't follow the shaft straightly, but rather twisted around it. The arrow tip was more of a screw than a blade, with circular ridges that cover it. Combined with her Air Bending, this arrow provides a powerful, piercing drill shot.

Arrow drawn on her bow, Pan looked around the hallway and pointed at the spot on the wall where she believed Ryuu to be on the otherside. The interior of the house was wooden, so her arrow shouldn't fail her.

Pan released the arrow and combined it with a powerful, concentrated blast of Air Bending. The arrow went flying through the wall, shredding any wood in the way sending splinter in all directions. Like a hot knife through butter, the arrow went right through the wooden wall, hitting the shelf on the otherside.

Pan was sure she hit Ryuu, but just to be certain, she drew another arrow and readied it for firing and hurried into the room where Ryuu was hiding.

Ryuu Takeshi

Ryuu smirked as his opponent took the bait, revealing her position.  He paused for a moment, seeing the destructive arrow she had just launched.  “I need to get me some of those,” he thought to himself as he quickly launched a lightning fast arrow from his still hidden position towards the airbender, who had now run out of her cover.  He used his airbending to curve it around into her blind spot with pinpoint accuracy.  Hopefully, she would not even see the arrow that was heading towards her from behind.  He then quickly loosened a pair of bolas from his belt.  With a swift spin and a flick of the wrist, he tossed it towards her legs, hoping to immobilize her.

Ryuu's plan had completely caught Pan off guard. The arrow fired at her blind spot had impacted her painfully in the back of her thigh. The bolas also managed to successfully managed to wrap around her legs.

Both the arrow and the bolas caused Pan to fall from her feet and to the ground, of course, not after she let go of the arrow she had drawn as she was rounding the corner, firing at almost point blank range in the direction of Ryuu.

"Dammit!" Pan cursed herself. She was in a lot of pain at moment and even she knew she wouldn't be able to effectively move around with the arrow injury in her leg.

"Who are you exactly?" Pan said harshly toward Ryuu. She couldn't believe some person she didn't recognize has managed to do this much toward her.

Ryuu Takeshi

Ryuu smirked as his clever gambit managed to catch his opponent off guard.  However it didn’t last long as the airbender managed to let loose and arrow of her own towards Ryuu at point blank range as he ran towards her.  The arrow impacted into his lower abdomen and he yelled in agony before letting out a great many curses, clutching the arrow in pain.

He turned toward the airbender and frowned.  He had already taken of his hood, so keeping his identity secret was out of the question.  “Ryuu-aaaahhhh!” he started, interrupting himself with a cry of pain as he broke the arrow off.  “Ryuu Takeshi,” he continued, panting heavily from the pain.  He figured she earned the right to know.  “I am known as The Hood in assassin circles…but who in the name of Gyatso’s beard are you?! “  He asked in surprise, as he readied a dagger and pointed it her way.  “I would have known if there was another airbender like me at the temples…” He crouched beside her spinning his dagger.  “…not that it matters…you know who I am and so I have to kill you anyway…”

"I never grew up in the air temples, but because I haven't, my mind hasn't been clouded by the lies of your leaders." Pan said painfully under gasps of breaths.

"But dammit!," Pan yelled as she tried to crawl away with her upper body and uninjured leg, "I'm not going to let you take me out so easily!"

Although it may have seemed futile, Pan took some broken glass that was left on the ground from the destruction both of them have caused in the building and chucked it toward Ryuu's face, desperate to buy herself time.

Ryuu couldn’t help but smirk. “Hey look, I am not the biggest fan of those self-righteous pacifists either…I’m an assassin for crying out loud!” he responded. However he was interrupted by Pan who threw a handful of glass at his face. He quickly raised his arm to protect his eyes and instantly felt the sting of the shards of glass as they penetrated deep into the skin of his arm and the exposed areas of his face. He was stunned for a moment and cursed angrily. This girl wasn’t making it easy and with his shoulder and abdomen wound, he would bleed out if he didn’t end this soon.

While he covered his face with his one arm, his other arm made an upwards motion creating a strong upwards current at the area Pan lay a few moments prior. He hoped for it to toss her up and smash her against the ceiling, only to let her fall back to the ground, where he would hopefully have had chance to recover and ready his dagger once more.

In her current state, Pan really could not defend herself in any possible way. As a result, Ryuu would have no trouble throwing Pan into the ceiling with air bending.

Pan flew up into the air and hit the ceiling and landed on the floor pretty hard. The pain of the attack was multiplied as it forced sudden extra pressure on Pan's already existing injuries.

"Arrgh! Fucker!" She screamed out as she hit the ground. Pan couldn't do anything back as her entire body was racketing with pain. Pan was grabbing her shoulder with all of her strength and clenching her teeth tightly as it was the only way she could cope with the pain.

Ryuu Takeshi

Ryuu was in pain too, but wasn’t as immobile as Pan was. The fact that he wasn’t just flung into the ceiling and dropped like a sack of potatoes back onto the ground also helped. He frowned at what he had to do next. This airbender was like him…and he was very curious about her. But she was dangerous, and knew his identity, that made her a threat.

“I’m sorry,” he whispered, holding his bloodied hand over her mouth, “I’ll make this quick and painless,” he continued as he pushed his dagger down into her neck. He wasn’t interested in her reasons for attacking, or who sent her. At that moment it was just him and a worthy opponent, who fought valiantly. He would give her a quick end to her suffering. “Go in peace…” he whispered, he wasn’t very good at all this serious stuff, but felt she deserved it.
