PostSubject: Oh, the places you will go ~   Oh, the places you will go ~ EmptyFri Aug 16, 2013 9:17 pm

Rui bounced along the beaten snow path, enjoying the feeling of the now warm sunlight on her face. It'd been a while since she'd been permitted a few days off work, and Rui was craving an adventure. Rui almost never got to escape the snowy Southern Water Tribe, and in all honestly all that snow just drove her insane at times. She looked around, hoping for some innocent bystander she could confide her dislike of snow in. If only I had someone to travel with.. The young waterbender sighed, and began fondling her locket absentmindedly. Deep in thought now, Rui couldn't decide whether she liked the company of people or not. She mulled over it for a bit, and decided what she really needed was someone she could ramble to who wouldn't shoot down all her strange conspiracies. She began to swing her arms, throwing up little sprays of water as she did so.

After she'd walked along for a bit, Rui stopped suddenly. She began to admire how the snow had become only mere patches among the green grass. Rui knelt down and stroked the grass tentatively. She couldn't remember the last time she'd felt actual grass. Sitting cross-legged on ground, Rui continued to stroke the grass like a soft polarbeardog. She simply adored the way it felt between her fingers. She smiled stupidly, not even thinking about how insane she would look to anyone passing by.

Tai had been hunting with a few other men of the Southern Water Tribe. The group of hunters had been tracking a pack of wolves that had been harassing their prey and ruining their hunts. Tai had been placed as the leader of this specific hunt, and had developed several traps for capturing the wolves. He had been successful in picking out where to place the traps and chasing the wolves into the area. Tai felt a sense of accomplishment, though he had been unaware that one of the wolves had snapped at his left leg. Thus, he had been limping slightly back towards a Southern Water Tribe village.  "Dammit, this sucks.", he said, taking a deep breath. He let himself fall, sighing. This, how didn't I even notice it. I guess I was caught in the heat of the moment, he thought as he sat up very cautiously, pain coursing through his leg as he managed to stand back up.

He continued walking forward, until he came across a strange sight. He seen a girl seated on the ground. He approached her with a faint smile despite the pain of standing on his left leg. "Hey, can you help me? I need to get to a healer, I've been injured during a hunt.", he told her as he tried to gently sit down near her, flinching in pain.[/color] He smiled to her, as he removed his mittens to run his hands through the grass. He hadn't noticed it on his way out with the hunting group, but he found it strangely exciting to see grass.

Rui continued to caress the soft grass, completely oblivious to the young man next to her. She remained oblivious until she realized that something was blocking her sun. Looking up slowly, Rui realized she was face-to-face to a rather attractive young male. The petite waterbender smiled blankly; her mind had already begun to subconsciously analyze the young man. She stood up slowly, clearing her throat before she spoke. "Your leg's hurt. I'm not an expert healer, but I could try to heal it.. If you'd like?"

Rui smiled a little bigger and more confidently after she'd said that. She arched her back slightly and felt the stiffness leaving her back muscles. "I'm R-Rui by the way," she stammered slightly, "of the Southern Water Tribe. Well I suppose that part's obvious, with my skin color and clothing and all.." Oh, there she went; she started to blabber again. Rui cleared her throat again, as if she had a chunk of food stuck.

Tai hadn't exactly caught onto how attractive the young woman he had stumbled upon was. He blushed and smiled sheepishly when she offered to try and heal his leg. "I would... I would greatly appreciate if you would try.", he said to her, in reply to her offer. He removed his the boot on his left leg and pulled the pant-leg up to around his knee. Tai didn't exactly seem surprised, despite having not seen the injury. There were several deep injuries, most likely from an animal's bite. He looked up to her as her smile grew larger. Rui, that's a lovely name to fit a lovely woman, he thought, running his hand across the injury. "Thank you Rui. I'm Tai Lin, I'm a hunter with the Southern Water Tribe.", he spoke before noticing her seem to go a little into detail he already knew. He raised his hand and smiled to her.  "Hey Rui, it's okay. Now, if you could start healing that would make me so happy.", he said with a short laugh at the end.

He wanted to make a little small-talk. "So, you're a water-bender then? That's cool. I can't water-bend, no one I know of in my family can water-bend, we're just non-benders who train as warriors and hunters. That doesn't mean I have anything against benders!", he shouted the last part, feeling as though he may have offended her. "So what about you?", he asked her.

Rui blushed slightly, "Well I suppose I'll get to work then!" She laughed sheepishly, and began rustling around in the bag hanging down at her hip. Out of it she pulled out a large flask of water. It was leather, and had many intricate designs on it. Towards the bottom of it was her name engraved just below her father's. She began to admire it, remembering how she'd earned it, and obviously zoned out. Rui jumped back to reality at once at the sound of Tai's raised voice. "Oh right! Erh, everyone in my family has the ability to waterbend, save for my mother. She passed away when I was young though. Tragic accident, but it's all good." Rui didn't mean this in an insensitive way; she just lacked the capability to be sensitive to such matters.

Rui then realized she should have been healing by now. She quickly pulled the cork off the flask, and began to stream the water out of it. The water weaved unnecessarily about in all directions; Rui was showing off just a bit. She placed her hands close to the wound, and the water responded by joining around her hands in a large mass. The waterbender took a deep breath, and concentrated. The water began to glow instantly, and Tai's wound faded a bit around the edges. "Is it.. Is it starting to feel any better?" She glanced up at him, her head cocked to the side.

Tai had been attentive to the large leather flask she pulled from her bag. He took notice to first the intricate designs that covered it. He then noticed that Rui's name was engraved near the bottom, under another name. I can't make it out, but I should ask her about it. But maybe I shouldn't, it's not really my business, he thought. Then he caught wind of what she said of her family and pulled from his back a boomerang, made of bone. It was bladed and seemed well-used. "I didn't really get to know my mother. She died when I was born, my father gave me this and said it was something that belonged to her.", he said to her.

His little emotional journey was stopped when he felt the water against his leg, causing him to adjust slightly. It wasn't a slight sting at first, the pain burned through his leg, but later subsided and had been replaced with something that felt good. "Oh yeah....", he said, clearly the pain was replaced with something that put him into a good mood. "Feels much better now, so if you don't mind me asking, why are you out here alone?", he asked Rui, curious about why she was out here alone.

"My condolences." Rui exhaled suddenly, trying to draw her concentration and the conversation itself back to Tai's leg. Death was never an easy subject for anyone.  More so for Rui, due to the fact that it was hard for her to show sympathy. She hoped that Tai didn't notice this lack of sympathy; he seemed like a pretty nice guy. The wound continued to heal, but only in small increments. "I'm sorry that it's taking longer than it would with an average healer. My younger sister just recently taught me the basics of healing. I've been practicing as much as possible, but y'know it's not everyday you see run into injured people." She laughed nervously with her last sentence, and her cheeks flushed slightly.

Rui looked up at Tai as soon as he asked his question. Which was a very good question indeed. "Well, uhm. There really isn't any reason why I'm out here alone. I was granted a couple days off from work—I live in the main section of the Southern Water Tribe you see—so I just decided, 'Why the hell not!'" Rui smiled triumphantly, and began to blabber. "All that snow just gets to me sometimes, y'know? Not that I hate it or anything, but it's nice to see some color." Rui opened her mouth to ask why he was out here alone, but then she remembered him saying something about hunting.

Rui looked down at Tai's leg, and noticed that the wound was for the most part healed. "Hey! I'm better at this than I thought." Rui streamed the water up again, and then into her flask. She sealed the cork on the flask, and gently placed it back in her bag like it was a newborn child. The waterbender pondered over whether she should stand up and be on her way, or sit and converse with this handsome stranger for a little longer.

Tai smiled through what pain he could still feel, trying to brush off the thought of a mother he never got to know. He often came to the conclusion that it was better he didn't know her, as the burden of living with that knowledge might've been worse. She seems nice enough, I don't think my father would care if I was interested in someone, he thought. "Oh, you're sisters taught you how to heal with water-bending? I've been to a few healers over the years, I've always gotten hurt watching out for those I hunt with, you're as good as the ones I've went to see, nicer too.", he told her.

She lives with the main section of our Tribe, like I do with my father. "I know how you feel. I love the snow and the cold, but sometimes I think about what other nations might be like. I've spent my whole life here, and the most excitement I ever get is an injury during a hunt.", he told her. He sighed, soothed by the feeling of the healing. He looked down at his leg, noticing that it was mostly healed. He looked up to Rui and smiled. "Hey, thanks Rui, I really appreciate this. But if you aren't busy, I...I don't have anything else to do today and maybe we could hang out...", Tai blurted out quickly to get his point across to her. He looked away sheepishly, blushing and gave a sigh.

Rui looked at Tai, noticing his forced smile. She shrugged it off, knowing that would be a conversation for later. At his compliment Rui's cheeks flushed an even darker shade of read. "T-thanks, but I'm not that good. Although, I have considering taking it into a career." She moved a loose piece of hair behind her ear, but it fell out of place once again. Rui looked around, trying not to meet Tai's gaze; her face was completely flushed now. She knew she must've looked ridiculous to him.

"Wow, you actually agree with me?" She broke down in a fit of giggles, "No one ever agrees with me! They all think I'm insane!" Rui smiled manically, realizing her and this Tai guy would get along just fine. She continued to look up at the sky, and stood up suddenly. Breathing deeply, Rui finally rested her gaze on Tai.

"D'ya want to come with me?"

"I don't see why anyone wouldn't agree with you. You're intelligent, skilled, and beautiful Rui. Trust me, I'm used to hunting with people who can't even handle creating a trap. They think it's all about just hitting the prey with their weapons.", he told Rui, laughing about it. He had noticed the shade of red that possessed her face, remembering that he was turning red himself. He pulled his pant-leg back down and slide his boot back on.

He looked up into the sky and rose up to a standing position, hesitant to place his weight on the leg so soon. He winced as he placed weight down onto it, jumping slightly. He slid the bladed boomerang back into it's holster. I think we'll get along nicely, maybe I'll have a friend that isn't a guy for once,, he thought as he gave a genuine, happy smile. He looked back down to meet her gaze, which she met back.

She asked him if he wanted to go with her. Where? She hadn't said where she was going, but it couldn't hurt. After all, the Southern Water Tribe would live on without a water-bender and a hunter, not that they were both entirely important to the system. "Sure, but I'd like to ask where you plan on going.", he asked her.

Rui flushed again at the string of compliments. "T-thank you, Tai. You're quite the charmer." She giggled into her hand. The waterbender looked over Tai, and sized him up. Rui never expected to be taking this journey with someone, let alone a guy. What would they talk about? Or for that matter, where would they even sleep? Rui had definitely not thought this over. Ah what the hell, I could use a friend.

Without a moment to spare, Rui took off at a slow run, and completely ignored Tai's question. She looked behind her, yelling after Tai, "C'mon! Let's go on an adventure!"

ooc: so, we could continue this somewhere else. But for now I have no idea what else to post concerning this thread. :3
