Izumo stood with his back to his trainee. "Remember to breath. Feel the energy, and move with it. Every strike your opponent makes can be turned against them. Every movement can be a mistake. Look at your opponent, see the little changes. Tensity, fluidity, all the small changes give hints as to what your opponent will do next."
The student was moving with her master, silent, and diligent. Izumo watched her, with great expectations. He turned suddenly, spinning with all the speed of any of the other Kyoshi's, and made to knock his student flat on her back. He was extremely proud when she reflected his blow, and he had to cartwheel to maintain his balance.
The girl was beaming, but had lost sight of her current situation, and with one deft movement, she was laying flat on her back, Izumo's palm less than an inch from her nose. He was smiling too, "Never let your guard down.", he said. "Your opponent is not beaten until they are beaten, never think for one moment that a surrendering foe truly means to surrender." Her eyes were wide, but she nodded her head, and he helped her to her feet.
"That will be all for today." He bowed his head to her, and she returned it, "Until tomorrow, Master Izumo." She turned and left without another word, leaving Izumo to his thoughts. He looked toward the statue of Kyoshi, "I wish you were here. To see such a talented generation blossoming." He turned, and started walking away, feeling a slight sensation run up his back, like the touch of another person. He stopped mid-step, "I know. You never really left...you live inside all of us."
He continued on his way, his first contact with the spirit world had been when he was still very young, failing at producing even the simplest of Kyoshi tactics. It had been a bizarre twist of fate, when, little by little, his knowledge expanded, like someone was giving him the push he needed to learn. When he inquired why, his masters told him Kyoshi must be looking out for him, she wants to see all her students succeed, especially the one's with a good heart and soul.
